Wilderness Safaris is proud to announce its listing as the world’s fifth Top Safari Operator in the US Travel + Leisure 2013 World’s Best Awards.

This recognition is particularly exciting as it acknowledges the importance of the responsible ecotourism industry in Africa.

“For the past 30 years, our photographic journeys to Africa’s wild and remote wilderness areas have been instrumental in ensuring their protection and conservation, as well as positively impacting the local communities neighbouring these reserves. We believe that true luxury is that of space, intact natural ecosystems and the privilege of being able to watch timeless wildlife interactions. We aim to deliver world-class luxury safari experiences and are extremely proud to have been able to do this to the exacting standards of Travel + Leisure’s readers,” said Keith Vincent, Wilderness Safaris CEO.

As Africa’s leading ecotourism and Conservation Company, Wilderness Safaris owns and operates more than 60 camps and 15 set-departure guided Explorations in nine African countries, offering guests exclusive access to more than three million hectares of Africa’s best wildlife areas. Wilderness Touring, the company’s transfer and touring business, is situated in the tourism hubs of Cape Town, Victoria Falls and Windhoek. Wilderness also has its own bush airline, Wilderness Air, ensuring guests move from one place to the next without difficulty.

“Our dedicated team has over 30 years’ experience of designing safaris and work hand in hand with our travel trade partners to plan the perfect journey suited to each guest’s budget and bucket list. We create journeys, not holidays – journeys that offer an immersive experience to change the way our guests view the world and Africa’s wild places, in particular,” Vincent added.

In addition to being rated fifth best safari operator, Wilderness Safaris’ Mombo Camp (including Little Mombo), in the Okavango Delta, Botswana, was ranked No.1 in the World’s Best Awards list of Top 100 Hotels. While Mombo and Little Mombo have been recognised frequently in the Africa category of Travel + Leisure World’s Best lists since 2006, this is the first year that they have featured at the very top of this prestigious record.

Representing the best in travel, the annual World’s Best Awards are based on Travel + Leisure readers’ ratings of hotels, destinations and companies around the globe. The results were published in the magazine’s August issue. Click here to view Wilderness Safaris’ Top Safari Operator rating, and here to see the Top 100 Hotels list.
