Azamara Club Cruises (Azamara) has today launched an extraordinary competition offering a chance for someone to be a part of history.

AzAmazing Experience will see one fortunate winner take to the stage for a once-in-a-lifetime walk-on role in Shakespeare’s most controversial comedy, The Merchant of Venice.

Working with international theatre experts and creatives, the winner alongside Pop-up Globe’s resident Buckingham’s Company of talented actors and musicians, will transport spectators four-hundred years into the past.

Azamara has partnered with Pop-up Globe for their Sydney season this spring to showcase Azamara’s immersive experiences that connect guests to the heart of local culture. On each Azamara cruise guests are treated to private and bespoke AzAmazing Evenings, which deliver authentic moments that bring guests closer to a destination, its culture and its people.

“With Azamara all the world’s a stage, quite literally. We take guests to performances in the world’s most magical settings. But right now, in partnership with Pop-Up Globe, we’re bringing Australians the chance to experience an AzAmazing Evening right here at home,” said Kathryn Valk, Director Marketing – Royal Caribbean Australia and New Zealand.

For their shining moment the winner of AzAmazing Experience will be dressed in bespoke period costume specially constructed by Pop-up Globe’s in-house wardrobe department. In addition to their speaking role, the winner and two guests will enjoy incredible seating, drinks and canapés, a private backstage tour and photograph on stage with the cast.

“Azamara is all about immersive experiences that connect guests to the heart of local culture. The winner of AzAmazing Experience is in for a completely unique and first of its kind experience – talk about being close to the action!” said Valk.

After performing to an astonishing 450,000 people in just two years, the world’s first full-scale temporary working replica of one of the greatest theatres in history, the second Globe, has popped up in Sydney. It will present an epic festival of Shakespeare unlike Sydney has ever seen before.

“Our audiences are blown away by the immersive experience of seeing Shakespeare performed in the space for which it was written. The winner of this fantastic competition will experience first-hand the relationship between actor and audience, the impressive Globe space itself, together with the power of Shakespeare’s remarkable work,” said Dr Miles Gregory, Pop-up Globe founder, CEO and artistic director.

AzAmazing Experience runs from 27 September until 5 October. To enter visit AzAmazing.com.

Azamara’s itineraries emphasise spending more time in port, enabling travellers to explore beyond the initial layers of a city and fully immerse themselves in the destination. Cruise Global, Connect Local shore excursions make it easier than ever to be immersed in the heart of local cultures all over the world. Guests can eat, explore, and live like a local, no matter where they go with independent, local tour operators.

Country-Intensive Voyages enable guests to stay late or overnight in most ports, providing more than one opportunity to experience a country after dark and as the sun rises. The latest addition of Azamara Pursuit, in August 2018, has allowed Azamara to expand its footprint across all seven continents, bringing guests to new destinations, new experiences, and new opportunities.
