Windstar Cruises Gives Travelers a Preview of the Brand’s Award-Winning Experience in New Video Campaign

August 10, 2018 Cruise No Comments Email Email

Windstar Cruises crisscrosses the globe landing guests in the heart of world capitals, immersing them in the great cultures, leading them down roads less traveled and bringing them closer to authentic, unforgettable travel experiences than any other cruise line can. Wherever the small ships of Windstar Cruises go, the hallmarks of their 180º From Ordinary promise ensure superior guest experiences throughout each cruise. A new series of videos from the cruise line takes a look at the intimate ships, personalization, welcoming culture and exceptional culinary program from the crew’s perspective. With stunning visuals and unscripted soundbites from actual Windstar employees – including Corporate Executive Chef Graeme Cockburn and Destination Manager James Anderson Smith, among others – the videos demonstrate how Windstar is different from other cruise lines.

All the videos can be viewed at

“Windstar is passionate about delivering a more rewarding, more authentic experience for world travelers,” said Windstar President John Delaney. “We believe that cultural exploration is best achieved on smaller ships that allow for greater access to local sites and more freedom to interact with the people who live there, as well as fellow passengers, setting us apart from typical cruise lines. Who better to communicate that story than our staff? These new videos reflect what Windstar is about, and our guests will be delighted to see some of their favorite crew members as the stars of that story.”

Windstar’s small ship size creates an atmosphere on board that is more intimate in scale. In terms of service, it means the exceptionally trained, friendly staff can deliver personalized touches and anticipate guests’ needs which elevates good hospitality to remarkable rapport. There is greater freedom to roam the ship and dine with whom and when you choose. Freedom to roam and explore extends to an Open Bridge policy that allows guests to meet the Captain, survey the surroundings from his/her point of view, and ask questions. All these elements come together to create a warm and welcoming community of world explorers embarked upon a journey that will be uniquely their own.

The partnership of the James Beard Foundation and Windstar (Windstar is the official cruise line of the Foundation) pairs two organizations which prize delicious food, but also the culture it explores, creates and sustains. James Beard chefs helm the culinary program aboard the ships and share their love of food culture with guests through locally inspired menus, interactive cooking demonstrations that expand guest understanding of local culture through food, and opportunities to go to market in port with chefs. Groups no larger than 24 persons can go along to local markets and meet the fish mongers or cheese mongers supplying the provisions for dinner. These very personal exchanges provide guests insight into the everyday lives of people in the destinations Windstar visits, but also its heritage and culture.

There is no more authentic way to explore the world than by small ship and to travel aboard the Windstar fleet is to feel what it is like to journey by private yacht. Windstar can go where others cannot, and navigate up rivers, to spectacular beaches and to the heart of great city ports. The advantages of small-ship cruising are many, and the new videos are windows into Windstar; they bring to life the real benefits of the brand’s core features. The videos are available here and will be available to travel agents and suppliers who will value them for defining and differentiating the Windstar experience.

Windstar has recently been ranked as #1 in the Midsize-Ocean Cruise Lines category of the 2018 Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards, honoring the top travel destinations and companies around the globe as rated by its readers, and been included on the 2018 Condé Nast Traveler Gold List.
