The ripe, red and white wines of Tenuta Sette Ponti, one of the most distinguished terroirs in Tuscany, Italy, invite exploration by Bangkok based wine lovers at an exclusive tasting with tapas, followed by a specially created wine dinner at Plaza Athénée Bangkok, a Royal Méridien on 07 August 2014, 18:00 onwards.

DSC_5997The evening begins at The Glaz Bar, the hotel’s buzzing lounge bar, with the exclusive wine tasting, followed by an exquisite three-course dinner of French contemporary cuisine, with two choices per course, paired with other specially selected wines set amidst The Reflexions’ imaginatively chic decor.

In an area better known for its world- class red wines, through painstaking research into soils, appropriate grape varieties and suitable exposures, Tunuta Sette Ponti has succeded in also making possible some great whites as well. Using sauvignon blanc and viognie grapes, Anni, one of the wines to be tried, is a fine example. A luminous straw-yellow with gold highlights, its bouquet is aromatic while notes of citrus and peach beautifully infuse the palate.

Chianti Vigna di Pallino, from the heart of the estate, is produced largely with Sangiovese grapes. The wine is ruby red with a bouquet that reveals fruity fragrances and floral notes. Crognolo, a refined blend of Sangiovese and Merlot grapes, offers a palate of ripe wild cherries, black fruit, leather and vanilla. Oreno, the estate’s flagship wine, is dark ruby red colour tinged with decisive violet tones, sensations of chocolate and nuances of balsam. Azienda Agraria Orma is a “Super Tuscan”, a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The red berry, orange peel, black cherries, and sweet smoky aromas and silky fruit, spice, chocolate, tobacco and cedar palate are intense.

The delectable dining experience begins with a choice of either Young vegetables spring salad on tomato gazpacho/fresh goat cheese/roasted walnuts OR Forest mushrooms cream soup/pig trotter/black truffle/rosemary emulsion. The main course offers either Steamed cod fish/black olive couscous/lemon confit/rocket puree OR Slow-cooked duck breast/roasted fig + carrot with cumin. A dessert of Pistachio marshmallow/red berries/vanilla cream/raspberry sorbet OR Chocolate praline bar with Hazelnut/bitter chocolate cream completes the tour-de-force menu.
