Woman who mentioned pains removed from flight

Emirates removed a 24-year-old British woman and her boyfriend from a flight to Dubai before takeoff, apparently because a flight attendant overheard a conversation between the pair in which the woman complained about minor menstrual cramps.

Beth Evans told London’s Sun that she and her boyfriend, Joshua Moran, 26, were ordered off the flight before takeoff from Birmingham after an attendant had concerns over Evans’ conversation.

Moran said it was “madness” to have been evicted, especially as his girlfriend had rated the pain only “1 out of 10”.

“Beth was in tears and getting upset when the hostess was asking her questions,” Moran said. “It’s embarrassing to have to explain about period pains when it’s being overheard.”https://www.centarahotelsresorts.com/cosihotels/?utm_source=e-global&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=cosi-firstlaunch&fbtrack=CUST-cosi-firstlaunch-e-global-banner

In a statement carried by the Washington Post, Emirates said it had “offloaded” Evans because of “a medical emergency.”

“The passenger alerted the crew onboard that she was suffering from discomfort and pain and mentioned that she was feeling unwell,” it stated.

“The captain made the decision to request medical support and offload Ms. Evans so she could access medical assistance as needed. The safety of our passengers and crew is of paramount importance, and we would not have wanted to endanger Ms Evans by delaying medical help had she worsened during the seven-hour flight to Dubai.

“We hope Ms Evans felt better soon and look forward to welcoming her onboard again soon.”

The couple insist that the attendant simply overheard Evans talking to her boyfriend about her discomfort, which she says would have been no problem on the flight. The couple probably thought they were conversing privately. They must now pay GBP 250 (AUD 445) each to reschedule the trip.
