Over 50 million people visit New York City every year, and its hotels come in every shape and size imaginable. Since the 1980s the Big Apple has welcomed many boutique hotels that have made their home around mid-town and  downtown Manhattan.

Only the best have been considered and added to the Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ (SLH) portfolio. In the past two years, SLH has added three hotels bringing the number of New York hotels in the collection to six. All hotels offer a different experience and can be found in different neighbourhoods within the sought after city.

It is now simply a matter of preference – with a design hotel in Central Park South, a stunning terraced townhouse in Gramercy Park or stately elegance Warwick Hotel San Franciscoin the Flatiron District, SLH can cater to whatever its guests seek – their every need is attended to.  According to Paul Kerr, CEO for Small Luxury Hotels of the World; “New York has always been on our radar, SLH has had a great presence in cities like London, Paris and Rome, so we were always keen on growing our collection of New York. It is a key city for growth in the Americas, and America is our biggest source market – but it was important to find the right hotels. The Quin, Refinery Hotel New York and WestHouse Hotel New York are all new conversions and are wonderful additions to our city collection,  they were well worth the wait.”

the Quin (Opened November 11th, 2013): situated in a privileged Midtown location where art, music and fashion
intersect, in a 17-story pre-War building that was once home to some of the 20th century’s greatest musicians and painters. The Quin, New York City’s newest luxury lifestyle hotel captures the essences of New York past and
present. A blend of modern opulence and rich artistic heritage, it capitalises on the former Buckingham Hotel’s pedigree and unrivalled address, frequented by musical legends like pianist/composer Ignacy Jan Paderewski and Metropolitan Opera greats Giuseppe De Luca and Giovanni Martinelli.

Hotel Chandler: Steps from the Empire State building, Hotel Chandler has an enviable postcode. Many seek out the hotel for its atmosphere of chic serenity, away from the hustle and bustle of the amazing city. Some seek a delectable start to their day with breakfast at Juni, a 2-Michelin star boutique restaurant, home to Chef Shaun Hergatt. Juni is an intimate 50-seat restaurant offering a seasonally evolving menu, that’s set perfectly in this 138 room/suite hotel. The  homely ambiance of each room is specifically designed to reflect the historic building’s timeless style; with the opportunity to relax in the refined library, work out at your own pace in their modern fitness centre or stay in with their in-room dining menu.

WestHouse Hotel New York (Opening Dec 23rd, 2013): a new luxury boutique hotel designed to evoke a private residence is the newest hotel to join SLH.  Conveniently located on 55th Street between 7th Avenue and Broadway, WestHouse Hotel New York is located close to many New York City landmarks. WestHouse, with its 172 rooms, derives inspiration from the beauty and glamour of the 1920s and invites guests to an elevated boutique hotel experience, delivering personalised privileges in an inviting atmosphere.

The Inn at Irving Place: A beautifully restored period townhouses in the heart of Gramercy Park, The Inn at Irving Place joined SLH in 1996 and has been a beloved member ever since. With its unassuming façade, The Inn at Irving Place has a classically timeless interior with a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere. Period features abound throughout the property including fireplaces, antiques, Tiffany lamps, cherry wood floors and floral rugs, all reminiscent of the Victorian era and very romantic. Visit Lady Mendl’s Tea Room, consistently rated the best and most romantic Tea Salon in New York City.

Refinery Hotel New York: An experience fit for fashionistas located in the Garment District in what once operated as a millinery, the thematic design found throughout the hotel pays homage to the building’s storied past and seamlessly blends contemporary touches to create an atmosphere that is always in style. The grand entry with its vaulted ceilings and elongated corridor—ironically reminiscent of a fashion runway—creates a sense of arrival for  guests as they pass through the reception area, thoughtfully appointed with hat-making machinery repurposed as custom art installations. With 197 guest rooms, the spirit of craftsmanship associated with the hotel is evident through the one-of-kind furniture creations from the sewing machine-inspired desks to the coffee tables modelled after factory carts.

The Iroquois New York: Just steps from 5th Avenue; The Iroquois New York has been a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World since 1998. Melding classic design with contemporary amenities for a quintessential New York stay, the hotel was built for both business and leisure travellers and features 114 well-appointed guest rooms and nine suites with features such as Comfy Simmons Beautyrest mattresses, comfortable work stations and Jacuzzi tubs.
