Leading Australian adventure travel company, World Expeditions, has launched a dedicated charity division, Huma Charity Challenge, in response to strong demand from charities who recognize its fund raising potential.

Cycle_Vietnam_group-smallWorld Expeditions has been involved with the ‘Charity Challenge’ concept – fundraising through travel – since the concept emerged in the late 1990’s and the new brand is designed to highlight to charities the company’s expertise in the sector.

World Expeditions is confident Huma will have a strong impact on the competitive sector by charging charities zero administration fees, thereby offering charities the full fundraising benefit of the ‘Charity Challenge’ concept.

According to World Expeditions Chief Executive Officer, Sue Badyari, there has been strong growth in demand from charities looking for new ways to engage their supporters and increase fundraising and from travellers looking to use their travel to benefit charities. Larapinta_Trail_Northern_Territory-small

“The launch of a dedicated division will highlight to charities that World Expeditions is active in this market and can manage all of the logistics including creative charity challenges, supplying of marketing collateral designs and documentation to assist the charity and fundraisers, and importantly support and a liaison point for the fundraisers to ensure they are meeting their targets,” Ms Badyari said. “No other charity challenge provider can match our operational experience and the fact that Huma does not charge administration fees assures its services will be popular with charities.”

Huma (pronounced Hooma) Charity Challenge participants can choose to join an existing “Charity Challenge” arranged in partnership with a charity or can choose an “Open ChalleMt_Kilimanjaro-smallnge” from any of the company’s expansive global offering of more than 900 adventure holidays and fundraise for their chosen charity.

Participants might take up the challenge to summit Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, trek to Everest Base Camp, walk the trails of the Grand Canyon, traverse across Costa Rica by human power, trek the famous Inca Trail and the list goes on!”

Like its parent company, Huma Charity Challenge is committed to responsible tourism and itineraries always aim to benefit the local people with whom participants interact, safeguard the ecosystems they explore and contribute to the sustainability of travel in the regions they experience.
