In a world-first product innovation, online experiences brand RedBalloon is launching long-haul return hot air balloon flights between Australia’s two biggest cities.

The journey is estimated to take up to nine hours (one way), and can only take place in the event of generous northerly or southerly winds, depending on the leg of the journey.

The flights will be true ‘standing room only’, luggage is limited to one small item per passenger, and only light snacks are available on board due to strict weight restrictions to maintain passenger safety.

Passengers are advised to wear layers and be prepared for significant fluctuations in temperature as the balloon will reach altitudes of up to 3,000 feet.

RedBalloon General Manager Matthew Cavalier said the business is excited to be bringing such a unique product to market.

“RedBalloon strives to deliver customers the best experiences in Australia and New Zealand, and with this launch we can truly say there is nothing else like this available in the world,” Mr Cavalier said.

“It’s been a journey to get this experience off the ground and we are incredibly proud and excited to see the public reaction to this new spin on travel.”

NOTE: The final landing destination can only be guaranteed within a 20km radius, and will be contingent on weather conditions.
