World’s Best Cocktail Bar Employees Only Alights At MO Bar’s 2015 Masters Of Mixology

Employees Only InteriorThe long-anticipated annual Masters of Mixology event returns to MO Bar at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong from 8 to 11 September 2015. As part of the year-long celebrations for the hotel’s 10th anniversary, MO Bar is taken over by the New York’s Employees Only the legendary venue which has never fallen off the World’s 50 Best Bars List. Created in the spirit of the 1920s and ’30s, Employees Only will bring its prohibition-era vibe to transform MO Bar — for the very first time — into a truly pop-up bar and restaurant, pairing its straight from NYC signature cocktails with classic American and European-inspired cuisine.

Iconoclast owner Igor Hadzismajlovic and principal bartender Steve Schneider are crossing the oceans to partner with MO Bar’s Head Bartender Jigmee Lama, while Employees Only Chef Julia Jaksic will cook her award winning and delicious dishes and bar snacks throughout the four pop-up days. Known for its unlike-any-other sips style, Employees Only has been recognized with top industry honors including the coveted Best Bar in the World trophy from Tales of the Cocktail in 2011 and 5 th position on the Best Bar in the World by Drinks International in 2014.

During 8 to 11 September only, these all the way from NYC cocktails will be available from 6pm to 12:30am, as we turn MO Bar over to Igor and Steve. A la carte food items from Employees Only’s menu will also be available from 6pm to 11:30pm at prices starting from HKD88. New Yorkers swear by the signature Closing Time – Chicken Soup! after a night of drinking, considering this a “badge of honor” for those who survive until closing time at Employees Only. Igor Hadzismajlovic – Owner

Igor attended the Croatia School of Economics on a Soros scholarship and in 1996 was granted a refugee status in the United States. He entered the bartending industry in 1997,

joining The Park as the Bar Manager in 2000 then rising to Head Bartender of Pravda where he was responsible for designing the drinks menu and manning the bar. In 2004, he opened Employees Only with Dushan Zaric, Henry Lafargue, Jason Kosmas and Bill Gilroy to ‘elevate the craft of the cocktail’.

Steve Schneider – Principal Bartender

This former US marine is armed with 12 years of bartending experience and has earned himself a reputation as one of the most respected bartenders in the industry. Over the last six years at Employees Only, the New Jersey native stimulates the fast paced environment while overseeing the science behind these stunning craft cocktails. Passionate about mixology, Steve won the 2012 Cocktail World Cup, an international bartending competition held in New Zealand, and has also taken home multiple awards as the fastest bartender in competitions around the world. In 2015, the Nightclub & Bar Media Group honored Steve with its Bartender of the Year Award, dedicated to recognising excellence in bar, nightclub and lounge concept innovation and success. Steve starred in the documentary Hey, Bartender and travels the world, sharing his knowledge of cocktail culture with budding bar enthusiasts.

Julia Jaksic – Executive Chef

A graduate of Le Cordon Blue College of Culinary Arts, Julia worked in several restaurants in Chicago before heading to New York where she spent two years at the always-edgy SoHo Grand Hotel. In 2004, she met the owners of Employees Only and accepted the position of opening Sous Chef. Julia firmly believes that food should be enjoyed without pretense, and that nothing beats the combination of a well paired meal and cocktails shared among friends. As an Executive Chef of Employees Only, she balances classic American and Europeaninspired fare, changing dishes seasonally to incorporate the freshest, highest quality ingredients.
