This month is gearing up to be ‘Massive May’ on Yorke Peninsula with a huge line up of events. From the Kernewek Lowender – the world’s biggest Cornish Festival, to the Rock ‘n Rev Weekend, dragon boat racing, markets and the
Port Hughes fishing competition.

“May is a fantastic time to head to Yorke Peninsula and we’re blessed with so http://www.questexevent.com/AMITE/2015/many diverse events this month” says Yorke Peninsula Tourism Manager Jo Barrie. “The Kernewek Lowender is a fantastic celebration of Cornish culture with over 60 events. Everyone gets involved, from dressing up as Cousin Jacks & Jenny’s to taking part in the Furry Dance, sampling a traditional Cornish pasty or trying Swanky – a traditional Cornish beer, there is something for everyone.”

“Massive May kicks off with the Copper Coast Rock ‘n Rev Weekend, including Rock for Sailing Club, Saturday night followed by the Aussie Muscle Car Sprints at the Copper Coast Airport, on Sunday with muscle and classic car sprints, a show ‘n shine and aircraft displays,” says Ms Barrie.

There’s also the Port Hughes Fishing Competition, dragon boat racing, an array of markets all through the month and exhibitions at local galleries.

The About Time History Festival is on throughout May in South Australia, and there are plenty of Yorke Peninsula museums, galleries and groups taking part. You can do a guided or self-guided tour at Yorketown, Moonta, Stansbury, Kadina and Wallaroo; view special exhibitions; and listen to heritage stories from a local. “There truly is something for everyone during May on Yorke Peninsula, and being so close to Adelaide it’s a great opportunity to get away and enjoy a laid-back Yorke Peninsula break whether it be for a day…weekend or week!”
