YouTube shows drunken oaf attacking pilot at airport

June 28, 2013 Airport, Headline News No Comments Email Email

egtmedia59YouTube video footage has surfaced of an apparently drunk man striking a pilot in a recent incident at a US airport.

The New York daily News reported that the assailant, a man from Philadelphia “won a one-way ticket to jail” after assaulting his plane’s pilot “following a drunken rant during a flight delay”.

The 53-year-old man is reasonably dressed but his behaviour is that of an obnoxious drunk. His obscenity-laced, slurred rant and subsequent slapping of a pilot saw him denied boarding, arrested and jailed on assault and public intoxication charges, the paper reported.Airport ruckus

The incident happened at Dulles International Airport while passengers were waiting for a delayed United Airlines flight to Philadelphia.

A fellow passenger shot the video with an iPhone. One of the more disturbing aspects of the footage is the giggling and laughter of spectators around the filming. They seem to treat the whole scene as TV entertainment.

The video begins with the large antagonist, who appears clearly intoxicated, berating a uniformed pilot and threatening to punch him in the face, slurring his words and using expletives.

At one point the man says the airline should book him into a hotel if it won’t let him board the plan. He instead got booked into Loudoun County jail.

The long-delayed flight was eventually cancelled, local TV channel WJLA-TV reported.

Those wishing to view the confrontation, with its bad language and loutish behaviour, can do so here:
