Bettenay’s Margaret River Nougat Company is delighted to announce their French style nougat has taken out more than three gold medals at the recent Wrest Point Royal Hobart Fine Food Awards.
The Wrest Point Royal Hobart Fine Food Awards are organised by the Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania and is regarded as one of the key events in the Australian culinary calendar.
Bettenay’s Margaret River Nougat Company entered eight varieties into the awards, with an amazing result of seven varieties taking home a medal. The awards were presented in the Chocolate andConfectionary category and included:
Gold Medals – Ginger and Almond Nougat Coffee and Toasted Almond Nougat White Chocolate Apricots and Toasted Almond Nougat
Silver Medals – Wildberry and Macadamia Nougat Silver for Cranberry and Pistachio
Bronze Medals – Lavender and Almond Nougat Pistachio and Almond Nougat
“This is the first time we have entered our delicious Margaret River nougat into any food awards, so to bring home three gold, two silver and two bronze medals, we are simply overjoyed with
the results. We’ve been producing nougat for three years now, so this recognition really cements the hard work and efforts that we have put into developing our business. The aim of the Wrest Point Royal Fine Food Awards is to promote the excellence in the production of different food types and is held in Hobart in August each year. These awards have been operating since 1996 and entries are received from all over Australia, with more than 1,150 entries received for this year’s awards alone.
The judges, both with national and international food experience, spent three days judging against stringent criteria to select the very best produce in Australia. In addition the Wrest Point Royal Hobart Fine Food Awards have been accepted as the qualifying path for Australian entries in the Australian Grand Dairy Awards.
