My favourite ATE exhibitor Number Two – Australia’s undiscovered tropical Indian Ocean paradise – Cocos Keeling Islands…just amazing!
OK, so I have been regularly impressed by other locations around the world, but nowhere quite like Cocos Keeling Islands and not only did I meet Jules Bush [left] at ATE and she told me all about this amazing place, but also right after ATE, I was able to visit Australia’s last unspoilt paradise, located in the azure waters of the Indian Ocean, as their web site says “kissed by the sun and caressed by fragrant trade winds”….and it is!
Cocos Keeling Islands are not that easy to get to, but that is one of its plusses as it is more than three hours flying from Perth with Virgin Australia, only three times a week, but that also means the islands will never become overrun by tourists and end up with masses of those crass glitzy resorts – phew!
What Cocos Keeling Islands do offer though is spectacular snorkelling, world-class diving, excellent fishing and the adrenalin-rush of kite surfing, but the Cocos Keeling Islands are also a deeply tranquil holiday location.
You can relax on empty beaches, visit uninhabited islands by canoe, watch spectacular birdlife or catch the ferry to Home Island and discover the culture and traditions of the Cocos Malay people.
2750 kms northwest of Perth, Western Australia, the Cocos Keeling Islands are a group of idyllic coral islands that form two atolls, with only two of the 27 islands inhabited…….and the rest just waiting for you to explore them on what will be unforgettable holiday on a faraway tropical island.
As Jules says, you’ll never want to leave!
