World travelers no longer need to feel like they are literally carrying the weight of the world on their back with the introduction of the BackCare™ trust mark range of travel packs, rucksacks and backpacks by Explore Planet EarthTM (EPE), designers of hiking and travel packs for the past 25 years.

Approximately 80% of us will experience pain or stiffness in the lower back sometime in our lives. Travelers and backpackers can travel for weeks or months around the world with a poorly designed, packed or fitted backpack which can contribute to back problems either during or after their expedition.

The BackCareTM line by Explore Planet Earth has been specially designed to distribute the load evenly across the back and waist, placing less strain on the shoulders and spine, thereby earning the endorsement of the Chiropractic & Osteopathic College of Australasia (COCA).

“We know that back pain is a serious impediment to travel plans and can result in dream trips turning into nightmare ordeals.  That’s why we’re excited to launch BackCareTM, our trust mark on a range of travel packs, rucksacks and backpacks,” said Nik Witcombe, CEO of EPE Global.  “Whether you’re travelling for months on a round-the-world trek or going on a weekend hike right here in Australia, this new line of Explore Planet Earth backpacks allows travelers to carry appropriate weight for their body, distributed safely across the back and waist.”

According to COCA, adults should not carry more than 30 percent of his or her lean body mass on their back, and for children, the backpack should not contain more than 10 percent of his or her lean body mass.

President of the Chiropractic & Osteopathic College of Australasia, Dr Peter Tuchin, says “We are pleased to endorse the BackCareTM range of backpacks designed by Explore Planet Earth. We have put these packs through rigorous testing methods and evaluated their effectiveness in reducing strain, back pain and impact on the spine. Australian travelers can buy a quality pack with the confidence that it has been created with their well-being in mind,” concluded Dr Tuchin.

“Our BackCare TM line includes four distinct harness systems that are all unique in design and technology. From the Spinal Care Harness and Air Tech Harness to the Ergonomic Harness System and Twin Tracking System, we have developed fully adjustable, lightweight and comfortable harnesses that allow for a superior fit for all body types,” added John Tsekouras, Designer for EPE Global.
