Perth Native Pioneers Medical Tourism in Indonesia
Bali Indonesia Medika Citra (BIMC) Founder and CEO Craig Beveridge is a former banker and partner with the financial services provider Beveridge, Birmingham and Healey based in Perth, Western Australia. Mr. Beveridge acquired invaluable skills in finance and business management that would further fuel his entrepreneurial career.
Mr. Beveridge, a former first-grade cricketer from Perth, would go on to excel in the customer service business with an accumulation of knowledge across industries and continents. Capitalizing on years of exposure as a professional athlete, Mr. Beveridge soon after launched a wildly popular brand in the quickly growing fitness center industry called Jungle Aerobics and Fitness.
Taking his entrepreneurial ambitions to further heights, Mr. Beveridge went on to establish National World Travel, a successful retail travel business and segue to the wholesale travel venture, Bali Escape Holidays.
Mr. Beveridge’s kismet into the medical industry was soon determined when a whitewater rafting accident involving a tour participant brought to light the explicit need for an international standard medical and emergency care centre on the island of Bali.
In 1998 the Bali International Medical Centre (BIMC) opened its doors in a modest building that would briskly evolve into a top-flight medical care facility.
In 2005, the hitherto Bali International Medical Centre changed its name to Bali Indonesia Medika Citra (BIMC), relocating into a four-storey facility in the heart of Kuta that would soon become the island’s most advanced name in medical care.
In 2007, Bali Indonesia Medika Citra secured its license as a fully accredited hospital. Today, the BIMC Hospital Group employs nearly 500 staff from 10 countries including Australia and the USA.
With the opening of the second hospital in the up-market enclave of Nusa Dua in May 2012, Mr. Beveridge’s experience in tourism, finance, healthcare and customer service neatly combined to support the group’s enviable position in the Asian medical tourism industry.
The BIMC Hospital Nusa Dua, located in the center of the Bali Tourism Development Corporation complex, is considered Indonesia’s first medical tourism hospital and destination for elective medical procedures.
Mr. Beveridge, along with his wife, Dr. Donna Moniaga, Chief Medical Director of the BIMC Hospital Group, has further plans to expand the group in Bali and beyond. Mr. Beveridge and Dr. Moniaga reside in Bali with their nine-year old son, Zachary.
