Support for Personal Travel Managers Increasing
Hot on the heels of TravelManagers announcing their 82 percent increase in sales for the January – June 2010 period compared to the equivalent six months in 2009, they are recruiting for a fifth business partnership manager to be based in New South Wales, their first appointed in February 2009.
TravelManagers’ executive general manager, Ms Scotney says support is a priority for their 260 plus personal travel managers across Australia.
“These positions are critical in ensuring our personal travel managers can be as successful as they wish to be. They must be able to understand the individual business needs of our personal travel managers and assist with the delivery of those needs.”
Ms Scotney says support is provided on a needs and requested basis. TravelManagers’ personal travel managers were big beneficiaries in the recent sales growth announcement, with an increase of 127 percent in those achieving more than $50,000 commission, for the same time period last year.
“While a personal travel manager doesn’t have to seek support it is hugely popular. What we offer in terms of support is unique in the home based consulting industry. I’ve no doubt, along with the experience of our personal travel managers, the business partnership managers are a significant contributor to their success and consequently, the company’s success.”
In addition to support for each individual personal travel manager, key aspects to the role include:
- Advising on development and content of an effective client database and the maximisation of client relationship marketing (CRM) opportunities.
- Assistance with developing and reviewing business plans and marketing activity programs.
- Identifying local product and supplier training needs and coordinating the implementation of training and supplier updates in the most appropriate and rewarding manner for all parties concerned.
- Advising personal travel managers on all aspects of consumer promotional events from honeymoon expos and retiree travel exhibitions to specialist travel shows and introductory cruise briefings and the like.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with partner suppliers at a local state level and facilitating effective and meaningful access by partner suppliers to our individual personal travel managers and vice versa.
- Assisting with identifying new business opportunities and the securing of such business.
- Setting up regular meetings locally with a social environment that encourages sharing of ideas and experiences to the benefit of all participants.
- Assisting with induction of new personal travel managers ensuring they are aware and make use of the extensive content of The Oracle (intranet) and the TravelManagers Local Marketing Kit.
- Assisting new personal travel managers with the creation of their personal webpage on TravelManagers’ consumer website at www.travelmanagers.com.au
- Encouraging personal travel managers to participate in relevant weekly webinars and ensuring they maximise the promotional opportunities provided by the fortnightly personalized eNewsletters and quarterly TravelManagers Travel Catalogues
Michael Gazal who is currently the business partnership manager for TravelManagers in New South Wales, has been promoted to national business partnership manager, a new position for the company. He says the company’s commitment to this area is significant.
“It is great to see a company so committed to supporting its personal travel managers as individuals. This is an exciting new role which will see a more coordinated and planned approach for our personal travel managers locally.”
Mr Gazal believes TravelManagers offering is by far the best for people considering the home based consultancy model.
“TravelManagers offers the best commission levels in Australia for mobile consultants and provides the most comprehensive marketing package designed to help personal travel managers build their business. This is in addition to the business coaching and support that our local business partnership managers provide, which will be even stronger with this new position and another business partnership manager being appointed.”
Ms Scotney says the new position has become necessary through the growth in TravelManagers and the expansion of support services for its rapidly growing personal travel manager network. It has resulted in restructuring TravelManagers direct management; the national position has the following objectives:
- Strengthen the management team by a wider distribution of responsibility and accountability for the growth and performance of the personal travel manager network.
- Improve the management of team resources and provide greater direction of activities at all levels to ensure all are more effectively aligned to the business plan.
- Make more effective use of management time and skills to eliminate unnecessary duplication of effort and secure improved performance in all areas of the business.
- Free up management time to enable stronger focus on identifying and implementing improvements to personal travel manager support at both local and national levels.
As a result of the new position Ms Scotney’s focus will be more strategic for TravelManagers.
“We are definitely in a growth pattern at the moment and we want to allocate more of my time to the future of the company. Having someone with Michael’s knowledge, experience and skills is hugely valuable to ensure we maximise operational opportunities for both our personal travel managers and our partner suppliers.”
