TravelManagers have been offered six places on a 24 spot “Super-Fam” being run by the Canadian Tourism Commission. The fam trip is being divided into three specialist sub-fam trips with a focus on British Columbia, Quebec and Alberta.

Mandy Scotney

Executive general manager for TravelManagers, Mandy Scotney, says this fam trip is designed to show the Canada Specialist Agents that there is so much more to see and do in Canada than the traditional products.

“Those selected to go will be flying with Air Canada and will see a wide variety of hotels on offer in Canada plus traditional Canadian experiences such as: zip trekking, exploring dinosaurs in the provincial park, bike riding through Stanley park and whale watching just to name a few”

Ms Scotney says securing six places on the fam trip is a reflection of the high regard with which TravelManagers is held in home-based travel consulting and product distribution.

“TravelManagers has a great relationship with tourism authorities and our suppliers, illustrated by the fact that 25 percent of all invitees for this government sanctioned fam trip to Canada are from TravelManagers. Our personal travel managers are also exposed to a number of exclusive fam trip opportunities through the special partnerships we have with our suppliers.”

She believes it also demonstrates that the home-based mobile consulting is increasingly being recognised by government tourism bodies as well as privately and publicly owned travel operators.

“The home-based travel consultancy model is seen as a professional, efficient and effective means of reaching prospective travellers who tend to have high disposable income and a propensity to travel. This coupled with the fact that network wide our personal travel managers have an average of 15 years travel consulting experience means they are a very attractive proposition.”

Ms Scotney says TravelManagers proven track record with its extensive support of its personal travel managers through its ‘Local Marketing Manual’, quarterly ‘Travel Catalogues’ and fortnightly eNewsletters has also assisted.

“These are all examples of the type of marketing material our personal travel managers have at their disposal, contributing towards individual sales successes plus recognition by suppliers and tourism bodies, such as the Canadian Tourism Commission when it comes to issuing fam trip invites.”
