Lodge, apartment and hotel owners at Falls Creek very pleased with fresh snowfalls

The numerous snow-related business owners at Falls Creek are very optimistic about the remaining weeks of winter at the alpine resort after a healthy top-up of fresh snow and even more (snow) expected

Jane Bunn, a respected weather presenter, is suggesting the next snow-bearing low could result in snow as low as 500 metres.

With over a metre average snow depth (some runs have up to one and half metres) virtually every ski run at Victoria’s largest alpine resort is well covered. This is one of the more popular months at picture-postcard Falls Creek when skiers and boarders of every ability can take advantage of the resort’s uncrowded slopes and numerous après-ski options.

Current sub-zero temperatures combined with fresh snow are providing excellent skiing and boarding opportunities and it is an ideal window to take a back country guided tour with the resident Olympic skier Steven Lee (who celebrated his 50th birthday this week).

Lee said: “The snow cover is excellent. We will get one of our bigger dumps of the season later in the week which will fire-up the August skiers.”

There are still numerous well-priced peak season options available such as three nights self-catering accommodation, Three Days Lift Pass (Full Mountain), Three Days Skis, Boots & Poles OR Snowboard & Boots.
