STRUTH a look at the more weird wacky and wondrous in the world of the travel
IN his continuing search for the more weird, wacky and wondrous in the world of travel, David Ellis says someone obviously forgot to tell a group of Australians aboard the world’s highest-rated boutique passenger vessel earlier this month, that we’re supposed to be tightening our economic belts.
Because they were the biggest group by nationality and made up more than a quarter of all guests on a sailing aboard mega motor-cruiser SeaDream I from Rome to Venice.
With just 100 guests, 12 short of the maximum she can carry, and 95 crew, Australians numbered 26, followed by 18 from Brazil, the UK 14, 12 Norway, 11 from the USA and with the remainder from scattered other countries.
Maybe it’s because all 5-star dining, wines with lunches and dinners, and drinks from the open bars are included in the price, as well as nightly pre-dinner cocktail gatherings, a 30-course golf simulator, power and sail watersports, mountain bikes for shore excursions, and even onboard gratuities.
