Life Resorts fine-tunes award-winning Quy Nhon Spa
Step aside vacationers; this rejuvenation is for the spa itself. In the first quarter of 2012, Life Spa in Quy Nhon showed it practiced what it preached by undergoing a refreshment of its key elements, including a well-timed update of its in-house products and staff service.
Laid out within 3,000 square meters of greenery, the renovation of the cliff-hugging spa at Life Wellness Resort Quy Nhon is its first since opening in 2003.
The spa replaced its welcome terrace, three indoor treatment suites and reception lounge, while the resorts’ landscapers took their tools to the surrounding gardens and pathways.
Working from the ground up, the resort laid down new flooring throughout the spa, knocked out the old spa roof and constructed another better suited to withstand the seaside elements.
The centrepiece in every spa, the facility’s spa beds were redesigned and built anew by craftsmen in Quy Nhon city, using all locally sourced materials. Life Spa’s wet areas, sand and salt sauna were also transformed as part of the renovation.
“Life Spa has been the bedrock of this resort and a crucial component of our guest experience,” said Trevor Yoho, the resort’s general manager. “Its improvements are not only a reflection of the resort’s standards but also its all-natural approach to defusing stress.”
In May 2012, Quy Nhon welcomed Roshantha Ramawickrama, spa training and development manager for the Life Resorts group. A Sri Lanka native, Ramawickrama brings with him 16 years of experience in the hotel spa industry, certification from the International Therapy Examination Council, and diplomas in spa and therapy courses from institutes in France, India, Thailand, the UK, the UAE and the United States.
Former spa consultant to Kuwait’s royal family and spa trainer at the renowned Premiere Spa consultancy in Cyprus, Ramawickrama is setting himself a challenge to bring each of Life Resorts’ treatments up to international standards, while carving out a new signature treatment for the Quy Nhon resort and a range of specially designed packages for wellness-seeking guests.
In line with the resort’s sustainable approach to hospitality, Life Spa is switching to three exclusive scented massage oils, made specially for the resort from all-natural ingredients and locally sourced exotic plants.
Made from rare plants found in Vietnam, Laos and nearby countries, the body oils – labeled Relax, Energizing, and Calming — are blends of genuine vegetal oils and aromatic ingredients such as holy basil, bergamot, vanilla, ginger and grapefruit.
To get spa goers even closer to nature, Life Spa is now featuring organic-themed therapies such as a coffee and yoghurt scrub, papaya scrub, and banana leaf body wrap in its treatment menu.
In addition to its current line-up of Life Activities — meditation, tai chi and healthy cooking classes — Life Resort has just extended its complimentary yoga classes from 45 to 90 minutes, following the return of its Sivananda-trained yoga instructor.
On the other side of the resort, the resort is flexing its green thumb with a new cacti garden featuring a wide range of the exotic plant species. Further away from the main resort area, flowerbeds colour the ground where a colony of honeybees is yielding the resort’s first homegrown batch of honey, now offered to guests in the daily breakfast buffet.
Awarded Best Wellness Resort in Vietnam for three consecutive years by the Vietnam Economic Times, Life Wellness Resort Quy Nhon has three four-night wellness programmes and a unique dollar-per-treatment Spa-tacular Package on offer through October 2012.
