The Zanzibar Tourism Promotion Centre, India, hereafter known as the Z.T.P.C was set up on 17th February 2015 under an agreement between the Ministry of Information, Culture, Tourism & Sports, Zanzibar (M.I.C.T.S) and Jhil Enterprises a part of the SRP Group.
Z.T.P.C, India will be formally inaugurated on 2nd April 2015 by Hon’ble Said Ali Mbarouk – Minister for Information, Culture, Tourism & Sports. It is entrusted with the task of assisting the M.I.C.T.S & the Zanzibar Commission for Tourism (Z.C.T) in promoting Zanzibar as a Tourism & Investment Destination in India and strengthening Zanzibar’s relationship with India by associating and closely working with representative bodies in the various spheres. It’ll also assist the M.I.C.T.S and Z.C.T in critical investment issues and providing consultation for capacity building, education, technology transfer, etc.
Zanzibar – India History Zanzibar was the landing point for most Indians, especially the Gujarati community who went on to settle into Africa, it was also host to Mahatma Gandhi while on his journey from South Africa to India.
India and Zanzibar have shared a highly cordial relationship.
Z.T.P.C is formed with an aim to stimulate and enhance the flow of tourists from India to Zanzibar and will rely on various modes of promotions to
• promote Zanzibar’s Tourism offerings in India
• enhance awareness amongst the business and travel fraternity as well as the
population at large
• strengthen the existing bond between India and Zanzibar

The journey from Dar-Es-Salaam to Zanzibar can be undertaken via a 15 minute flight or a 1 hour 15 minute luxury high speed ferry.
Zanzibar cuisine is highly influenced and is a combination of the Omani & Indian
Cuisine, it retains a similar usage or spices. In fact it also uses the same names (as in India) for many of its culinary delights.
Memorandums of Understanding:
The Z.T.P.C has inked co-operation and joint effort MoU’s with the Indian Merchants Chamber (I.M.C) on Wednesday April 1, 2015, The Travel Agents Association of India (T.A.A.I) and the Travel Agents Association of India (T.A.F.I) both on Thursday April 2, 2015.
