The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) has revealed that the 2019 National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) will be held on Saturday 20 July 2019 in the Grand Ballroom at the International Convention Centre, Sydney.

Qantas continues to demonstrate their firm commitment to AFTA and travel agents through the valued Platinum Partnership with AFTA and as the Major Sponsor of the National Travel Industry Awards.

In 2019, Finalists in the judged categories will again benefit from the amazing facilities at the Qantas Mascot Campus as the chosen venue for the judging process. Judging will take place between Wednesday 12 June – Friday 21 June 2019.

According to AFTA Chief Executive, Jayson Westbury, the 2019 Awards are set to be ‘turbocharged’ thanks to the inclusion of the inaugural CATO Awards and a new partnership with The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age Traveller, which will bring a significant consumer media component and further expand consumer connections with travel agents.

In 2019, AFTA will also introduce a new category, Best Mobile Advisor and the very popular category of Best Sales Executive Industry Supplier, which receives over 150 nominees annually, will be replaced with three (3) new categories to better recognise the many achievements of Sales Executives within the travel industry.

These categories are;
• Best Sales Executive – Land
• Best Sales Executive – Air
• Best Sales Executive – Cruise

“On behalf of the AFTA Board of Directors, I want to thank the many Sponsors who remain committed to the Industry’s only true Awards program. AFTA has built a strong and prestigious brand in the National Travel Industry Awards over the last 12 years. AFTA delivers the National Travel Industry Awards on behalf of the Australian Travel Community. They are your Awards, so I invite you to take part once again and help us celebrate excellence within our industry,” concluded Westbury.

Qantas Executive Manager Sales and Distribution, Igor Kwiatkowski, said Qantas was proud to continue its longstanding partnership with AFTA and be the major sponsor of the NTIA again in 2019.

“The travel industry is growing and changing rapidly to meet the evolving needs of our customers. It’s great to see that reflected in the introduction of new award categories for next year,” Mr Kwiatkowski said.

“These awards recognise outstanding commitment in our industry so we encourage agents from around Australia to get involved in the nomination process. Our teams look forward to another year of collaboration and partnership in 2019.”
