Interest in Egypt as a river cruise destination continues to climb as Viking sees a 25% jump in sales just weeks after announcing a new addition to its fleet.

“The expansion to our Egypt fleet with the debut of Viking Aton in September 2022 has generated a significant surge in interest and bookings from the ANZ market who are keener than ever to explore this fascinating country”, said Michelle Black, Viking ANZ Managing Director.

“Viking has invested heavily into this region and is the first and only Western company to build, own and operate ships on the Nile, and the addition of Viking Aton takes our Egypt river fleet to three, alongside Viking Osiris and Viking Ra. We have also secured exclusive docking rights near Karnak Temple in Luxor, one of the region’s highlights, meaning no double docking for our ships on the Nile; ensuring faster and safer embarkation and disembarkation for our guests – and the ability to get right to the heart of key sites.

“Egypt remains a top destination for Australian travellers who are inspired to discover the rich history and beauty of the region. We will always maintain our commitment to creating meaningful experiences that are focused on the destination, and as the Thinking Person’s Cruise, Viking is able to provide a truly unique experience in Egypt allowing our guests to delve deeper into the destination”, she said.

The Viking Way of exploration is designed to enrich and enhance guests’ travel experience. From the thoughtfully curated on board library and the insights of guest lecturers and specialists, to a carefully curated online film library, reading recommendations, cultural profiles and videos to regional cuisine and vintages from every destination, Viking helps the traveller connect to the destination in every possible way.
