Grab a map and follow your appetite, thirst or golf swing through one of New York’s countless trails this summer. With over 30 cuisine and beverage trails alone, NY State has a trail for every traveler – from sweet to salty to sporty. Just a few highlights include:

· Buffalo wings: Buffalo’s Anchor Bar created the Buffalo-style chicken wing in 1964, but the city’s many eateries have revolutionized, perfected and personalized the famous finger food. Buffalo invites you to visit 12 pubs along the new Buffalo Wing Trail to try some of the city’s best and most interesting wings. In addition to Anchor Bar, stops include Bar-Bill Tavern for hand-painted buffalo wings; Doc Sullivan for its “smitty wing,” covered in a mix of a spices in addition to the traditional hot sauce; and Glen Park Tavern for the Sicilian wing, dressed with Parmesan cheese, garlic, basil and oregano.

· Distilled spirits: NY Distilled represents the 150+ distilleries across the state, crafting everything from gin to applejack, whiskey to liqueurs. A number of trails make visiting these distilleries and tasting their spirits as easy as apple pie moonshine (available at Black Button Distillery in Rochester). The Western NY Distilling Trail spans 13 partners from five cities; Hudson Valley’s includes 17 producers in 7 cities and Spirited NYC showcases 15 producers across three boroughs. Highlights include spicy gin in Western NY, pear brandy in the Hudson Valley and red absinthe in NYC.

· Golf: NY State makes a golfing vacation easier than ever with the New York Golf Trail. The trail’s interactive map allows travelers to see golf courses across the state, along with nearby lodging and other attractions to better map out their journey. The New York Golf Trail also offers customized stay and play packages to golf at 25 of the state’s best courses. For pre-existing summer, fall and spring packages, or to create your own, visit the packages page.

· Sweets: Sweet tooths rejoice! The Finger Lakes Sweet Treat Trail is an ideal family-friendly way to explore Cayuga County. The trail’s 19 stops include bakeries, farm stands, farmer’s markets and more. Those who have their Sweet Treat pass stamped at eight or more stops can have a chance to win a Sweet Treat Trail basket – but either way, you’ll want to take the honey, jam and homemade cookies back home with you.

· Craft beverages: With over 1,000 craft beverage manufacturers operating in New York, it’s no surprise that corresponding trails have popped up around the state. From the 20+ wineries in Chautauqua-Allegheny’s Lake Erie Wine Country, the largest grape-growing region east of the Rockies; to the Cooperstown Beverage Trail, in the former hops-growing capital of North America (and New York State’s first official cuisine trail), opportunities to quench your thirst are endless.
