‘A world of possibilities:’ From equity to empowerment, Delta women show diversity is key to business success

In honor of Women’s History Month, Delta is highlighting powerful women in every field and function across the airline.

A recent study by McKinsey & Company shows that companies in the top quartile for gender diversity are 15 percent more likely to have financial returns above respective national industry means. Women at Delta bring their voices, ideas and leadership to the table as part of the airline’s inclusive culture and thriving business strategy.

From the TechOps hangar to the airline’s innovation Hangar, Delta women pave the way for others while making important changes and accomplishments along the way. As one of Fortune’s Best Workplaces for Women, promoting diversity and intersectional empowerment of women is key to Delta’s success.

With the unique opportunity to explore sustainability initiatives for Delta and the airline industry, Stephanie has found that helping the planet and people in other parts of the world is rewarding.

Amanda L. – TechOps Airline Maintenance Technician

Following in her dad’s footsteps, Amanda is passionate about working on airplanes and loves the opportunity to be a problem solver to keep planes flying safely. She looks forward to seeing the number of women in TechOps continue to climb.

Kelly D. & Maria – ACS Below Wing De-ice Operations

These ladies have voluntarily mastered Delta’s state-of-the-art single operator de-ice trucks to keep Delta’s busy Detroit operations running on time through the winter months. The duo encourages other women to join them on the ramp for generations to come.

Nicole J. – Director of Innovation

Diversity and inclusion is very important to Nicole, who also encourages women to stay connected and work together. As a leader of innovation for a global airline, she aims to create a pathway for other women to be as, or even more, successful than she’s been in her role at Delta.

Andrea K. – Flight Superintendent

As a dispatcher, Andrea is an unseen member of the flight crew. She works behind the scenes in the OCC to ensure that each flight she follows makes it safely to its destination. In what is often still a male-dominated field, she hopes to show women that they can take on any task.
