Niraj Kumar, a nominee in the 2015 AccorHotels Excellence Awards in the “Rising Star” category for New Zealand, Fiji, and French Polynesia, has been appointed Hotel Manager at ibis Hamilton Tainui.
Niraj has been with Accor since 2006 and has held the position of Rooms Division Manager at Novotel Auckland Airport for the last two years. Prior to this, he spent 10 years at Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa and in various management roles within Mercure Nadi and Novotel Suva. Before joining Accor, Niraj worked for the Tanoa Group of hotels.
Sam Sherer has been appointed General Manager of Novotel Auckland Ellerslie and ibis Auckland Ellerslie. Sam joined Accor in 2004 in Wellington as Front Office Manager, followed by Hamilton, Sydney, Queenstown, and New Plymouth where he opened the Novotel New Plymouth Hobson in 2015. Since November 2016, prior to his return to Accor, Sam was the Hotel & Sky Tower Manager with the SKYCITY Entertainment Group. Sam is a member of the Industry Advisory Board of Queenstown Resort College since 2017, and was awarded an Honorary Membership of Les Clefs d’Or New Zealand.
Ian Preston has been appointed General Manager at The Sebel Quay West Auckland and The Sebel Auckland Viaduct Harbour. Ian brings with him over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Most recently, Ian was General Manager at Mantra Midtown Hotel in Brisbane and has been part of the Mantra group since 2013. Ian has also worked for IHG and Hyatt hotels in various locations across Australia as well as four years in Shanghai, China.
