ACTE ABROAD Rio Summit Poll Indicates Travel Managers Desire More Internal Training

Travel managers see an opportunity to be strategic leaders within their organisation, but feel they lack the tools they need to fully embody the opportunity, according to a live poll conducted at ACTE Global’s inaugural ACTE ABROAD Summit Rio. The survey found: 1. An overwhelming majority (97%) of respondents believe that the travel manager’s key role is to be strategic and focused on the productivity of the corporate traveller – resulting in increased compliance and savings for their organisation.
2. However, 94% do not believe the travel manager has the needed education to act strategically.
3. Key areas travel managers desire more training include: how to position themselves to the C-level in a strategic way (52%); traveller engagement (30%); and savings (18%).

“Travel buyers have a critical role to play in advancing organisational objectives and improving the bottom line. Our survey shows, however, that travel managers feel they must have more engagement with their travellers and senior leaders to realise their full potential,” said Greeley Koch, executive director at ACTE Global. “They have the sourcing skills. Now they want skills to help them demonstrate the positive impact the travel programme can have on the traveller, the company, and costs.”

After successful back-to-back sold out Summits in New York and Singapore, ACTE Global hosted the sold-out ACTE ABROAD Summit Rio on 1 August 2018 at the Prodigy Hotel Santos Dumont Airport in Rio de Janeiro. The full-day event combined dynamic educational content from ACTE Global Summits and ABROAD, the travel and MICE roadshow from Academia de Viagens Corporativas. It featured over 40 dynamic sessions with themed discussions, innovative educational formats, national and international speakers, and networking, and was attended by more than 300 participants (44% buyers).

“We found our first partnered event with ACTE Global to be a great success. For us it is very important to have a partner like ACTE Global, who can in conjunction with us, bring knowledge and higher education to our market based on the research ACTE Global is developing” said Viviânne Martins, director of Academia de Viagens Corporativas. “We look forward to our partnership extending into the future.”

ACTE Global continues to hold events in Latin America, with the upcoming ACTE Academia Summit Campinas scheduled for 25 October 2018. The event will be held at Royal Palm Hall in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil with an expected turnout of over 400 attendees.

Under the principle “Solve today’s problems, plan for tomorrow, and understand the future,” Academia de Viagens Corporativas and ACTE Global bring a differentiated and unique product to Brazil based on research conducted around the world and in a deep dialogue within the corporate travel industry and MICE.
