ADC Global Blockchain Summit heralds major announcements from world-leading blockchain organisations

The ADC Global Blockchain Summit Gala Dinner on Monday evening welcomed major announcements from some of the world’s leading blockchain organisations. With guests including the Premier of South Australia The Hon Steven Marshall, and words from Patrick Byrne of Overstock and Yandraduth Googoolye, Governor of the Bank of Mauritius, the announcements highlighted a growing commitment to South Australia as the technological hub of Australia.

Wei Zhou, CFO of Binance announced support for the blockchain ecosystem in South Australia confirming Binance’s first employee hiring in Adelaide, and committing their investee TravelbyBit to join the workspace in Lot Fourteen.

Stephen Roux, Vice-Chair of ADC100 announced alongside Kingsland University School of Blockchain a $70,000 scholarship package for technical training and executive education, in support of capacity building and training for the South Australia blockchain community.

Benjamin Yablon, Chairman and Co-Founder of SALT Lending announced SALT Lending’s expansion to include lending to businesses in Australia.

Joseph Weinberg, Chairman of Shyft Network announced it is in the process of understanding how its ecosystem can be extended into the Southern Hemisphere, and is considering any future hiring initiatives to focus in on South Australia.

Rupert Colchester, Head of Blockchain and Consulting Practice Leader at IBM Australia and New Zealand celebrated its partnership with Thomas Foods International and Drakes Supermarkets following their pilot of the IBM Food Trust.

Nick Giurietto, CEO of the Australian Digital Commerce Association (ADCA) announced earlier Monday that the representative body will be merging with Blockchain Australia.

Premier of South Australia, The Hon Steven Marshall welcomed the commitments to South Australia’s blockchain ecosystem, noting “the possibilities blockchain presents, along with other future industries, could prove key to the future growth of our state’s economy, so it’s fantastic to see so many entrepreneurs and leading innovators from across the world come to Adelaide test the boundaries of what it has to offer”

“This week’s summit has put South Australia on the map in the global blockchain community and has gone a long way in positioning our state as a hub for digital industries, including blockchain and distributed ledger technology.”

The ADC Global Blockchain Summit continues Wednesday 20th March, bringing the world’s top entrepreneurs, financiers, regulators, researchers and innovators to the Adelaide Convention Centre to discuss the practical business applications of blockchain technology.
