Adelaide Grandfather lucky to make it home after falling seriously ill on family holiday to Greece

Mr Karamalis from Adelaide recently contacted his local insurance broker, Guardian Insurance Brokers, to organise travel insurance for his upcoming family holiday to his native homeland, Greece. Guardian Insurance Brokers referred him to TravelCard Real-Time Insurance.

Unfortunately, one week into his holiday, Mr Karamalis became seriously ill and hospitalised on a remote Island in Greece. Due to his deteriorating condition the hospital on the island was unable to provide the treatment required.

TravelCard stepped in and organised an air ambulance to transfer him to Athens Private Hospital. TravelCard not only paid for his medical expenses but paid for a complex medical evacuation for him and his wife and two doctors to escort Mr Karamalis back to Australia. During this traumatic experience, TravelCard compassionately covered the return flights for his son as well.

A highly emotional Mr Karamalis is overwhelmed by the support from TravelCard: “Thank you, thank you, thank you TravelCard, I didn’t think I’d make it back to Australia!”

Mrs Karamalis comments on TravelCard’s repatriation of her husband.
