Adventure World Travel has shown its support for animal protection organisation, FOUR PAWS, in taking a pledge to support their current campaign #ProtectMillions, which aims to end trading of dog and cat meat in South East Asia.

Adventure World Travel’s pledge represents support from the tourism industry that will assist FOUR PAWS in their lobbying efforts with governments, ministers for tourism and tourism boards in Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam, where these practices are unfortunately common.

Neil Rodgers, Adventure World Travel Managing Director said “We’re proud to show our support for FOUR PAWS and their incredible efforts to stop practices that are harming innocent animals. As a travel company who sends so many travellers to South East Asia each year, we feel it is important to show we care about the welfare of the people and animals in this region.”

Jessica Medcalf, Head of Programmes at FOUR PAWS Australia said “A key part of the FOUR PAWS campaign #ProtectMillions is the travel industry pledge. The travel industry can be a powerful force for good, and with support from companies like Adventure World Travel and The Travel Corporation, together we can save millions of animals from suffering due to the trade, while reducing the spread of zoonotic diseases. The present crisis is teaching us that how we treat animals has global consequences and cultivating compassion within tourism, and support from the tourism sector, is invaluable in helping us to achieve change for both animals and local communities.”

Adventure World Travel takes wildlife protection seriously, ensuring that any wildlife experiences available to travellers meet the standard outlined by The TreadRight Foundation’s Animal Welfare Policy which was updated last month.

Fellow travel operators and tourism boards are encouraged to join Adventure World Travel in signing the pledge and helping Four Paws on their mission to make a difference in South East Asia.
