AIME’s new organiser outlines vision for show

The Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) is set for major expansion, starting from now, with its new organiser working to boost the number of hosted buyers attending the show and to double the number within a year or two.

Chief executive of Talk2 Media and Events, Matt Pearce, outlined his vision for the premium Melbourne meetings show yesterday. Speaking exclusively with Global Travel Media, Pearce said he had already hired a top hosted buyer expert, currently with Reed in the UK, to take charge of the expansion.

Pearce confirmed his aim was to double the number of hosted buyers. This might take a year or two, he conceded, but a big increase would be apparent at next year’s show, focusing particularly on buyers from the Asia Pacific region.

Talk2 Media and Events, an Australian owned, all-inclusive events company with a proven record and a strong commitment to delivering successful, engaging and innovative events, has now taken over the organisation of AIME from Reed Travel Exhibitions, which has run it for many years.

Pearce spoke earlier at AIME about his goal of propelling AIME into the “Grand Slam” of meetings events, placing it in a similar league to IMEX Frankfurt. He said the new role of Talk2 Media & Events in organising the show was exciting, but it had also been a bit frustrating, as he had a desire to start getting things done immediately – which obviously could only happen when Talk2 Media & Events officially took the reins. That has now happened.

The quality and seniority of hosted media buyers would be retained, or lifted, in 2019 even as their numbers increased, Pearce said.

Pearce owns Talk2 Media and Events with Steve Malbourne. Their experience includes overseeing more than 50 events annually. The company took over direct ownership of The Good Food & Wine Show and The Fitness & Health Show (which Reed Exhibitions Australia acquired as a major shareholder in April 2017).  In 2017, Talk2 Media and Events won the tender to manage the organisation of AIME for the 2019 and future events.

Talk2 Media & Events already owns and delivers:

  • The Good Food & Wine Show (Australia) in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney & Brisbane.
  • Power Australia, 6-7 March 2018, ICC Sydney
