Air Vanuatu, Vanuatu’s national carrier, is excited to announce the appointment of Jody Southern as a Sales Representative for Victoria. Jody Southern joins the Air Vanuatu team – known for the friendliest smiles in the South Pacific –following the launch of the new direct service between Melbourne and Port Vila.

The direct flights between Melbourne and Vanuatu’s harbourside capital commenced on 18 June 2019, with the outbound flight departing each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, on the airline’s Boeing 737-800.

The new Melbourne-Port Vila route is the only direct service between the two cities, bringing Melburnians closer to the stunning South Pacific nation.

As part of the airline’s plan to expand its network throughout the South Pacific, Air Vanuatu will also be the launch operator of the Airbus A220 in the Pacific region next June. Air Vanuatu has ordered two A220-100 and two A220-300 series aircraft, with purchase rights for four additional aircraft.

Air Vanuatu’s new A220 aircraft will enhance the experience for Australians travelling to Vanuatu, with wider seats, more legroom and bigger windows, in addition to greater fuel efficiency and lower noise levels.

Paul Forbes, Air Vanuatu’s Manager Commercial for Australia, said Jody Southern’s appointment will bolster the sales team during this important growth phase.

“Having worked in the airline industry for more than 25 years, Jody brings a wealth of experience to Air Vanuatu. Jody will play an integral role in the success of the new route and will be a valuable member of the team as we head towards the launch of the new A220 series aircraft in 2020,” said Forbes.

In addition to the new direct Melbourne to Port Vila route, Air Vanuatu currently operates daily direct flights from Sydney to Port Vila and four direct flights per week from Brisbane to Port Vila. The airline also offers a weekly non-stop flight between Brisbane and Espiritu Santo – Vanuatu’s largest island.
