American Airlines will let wealthy passengers take private helicopters to airports to avoid having to queue for flights, according to latest reports.

American Airlines and private helicopter service Fly Blade have announced a new partnership to let those who can afford the helicopter fare of nearly USD 2000 (AUD 2800) beat the queues at Los Angeles (LAX) airport and JFK New York.

According to Fast Company, the combination makes flying right across the USA between those two airports very fast indeed, point to point.

Blade charters helicopters, seaplanes and jets. It already operates airport transfers for up to eight people “in as little as five minutes” to all New York City airports, including all private airports (such as Teterboro and Westchester) where it guarantees clients will land or depart directly from the side of their awaiting or arriving private jet.

The deal with American involves Blade’s airport shuttle, Blade Bounce, and American’s Five Star personal attendant service. It will see customers charter a Blade flight to JFK or LAX.

After they land, a personal escort will walk them all the way through priority check-in and expedited screening by Transportation Security Administration (probably no pat-down required) then on to the gate or to American’s Admirals Club.

They receive the same treatment on arrival, in reverse order.

The luxury service is available to all American Airlines passengers regardless of class but economy flyers may find it costs a lot more than their airfare.
