American Cruise Lines announced today that it launched American Jazz at Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, MD, on Sunday, October 13th, five weeks ahead of schedule. American Jazz is the 3rd modern riverboat in the U.S.A. and the 3rd ship in American Cruise Lines’ acclaimed series of 5 modern riverboats—all designed and built by Chesapeake Shipbuilding.

American Melody, the 4th modern riverboat in the series of 5, is also under construction at Chesapeake Shipbuilding, and will feature a number of design changes from the first 3 ships in the series.

Once complete, American Jazz will have 6 decks, accommodate 194 guests in 100 staterooms, and highlight the same elegant contemporary design as the 1st and 2nd modern series ships (American Song and American Harmony)American Jazz will showcase a multi-story glass atrium at the center of the ship, as well as the distinctive opening bow and retractable gangway synonymous with all American’s modern riverboats. Chesapeake Shipbuilding has a long history of designing and building innovative new ships for American Cruise Lines.

Designed with sweeping expanses of glass throughout, American Jazz will offer unparalleled panoramic views as well as huge all-balcony staterooms & suites. The new ship’s amenities will also include a casual dining venue called, The Back Porch Café; a Grand Dining Room, accommodating all guests; numerous comfortable lounges; several open-air & shaded sundecks; a putting green; exercise room; laundry facilities; and elevator access to all decks.

American Jazz is set to begin cruising the Mississippi River for American Cruise Lines in the 3rd quarter of 2020.
