InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG®) will open ANA InterContinental Beppu Resort & Spa on 1 August 2019, introducing a luxurious combination of Japan’s famed hot springs heritage and InterContinental’s worldly glamour. The brand-new resort will open as the first international luxury resort in the Oita Prefecture, marking a new era of world-class travel in the region.

By combining the contemporary resort experience with Japan’s onsen heritage, IHG will introduce a unique and immersive relaxation experience to both Japanese and international clientele. InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has led the way in bringing luxury travel to emerging destinations for over 70 years, from Ljubljana to Danang and now, Beppu. The city is located in southwestern Japan and is consistently rated as one of the country’s most acclaimed onsen destinations, visited annually by more than four million people.

Introducing a luxurious combination of design and nature

Designed to offer a distinct sense of place, the resort has adopted various elements of the local surrounds to influence its interiors. Each of the 89 guest rooms includes beautiful bamboo work created by the local artists and craftsmen, complete with spacious design and natural materials for a sense of peace and relaxation. Guests can indulge with a selection of private open-air baths on the terraces, available in the Suites or Club Rooms, as well as upgrades to the InterContinental Lounge on the third floor of the resort.

World-class facilities and restaurant and bars experiences

The rich quality of the natural baths and traditional hot spring heritage underpin the InterContinental experience in Beppu. With the resort’s in-door public bath along with open-air bathing in its own elegant space, guests can enjoy Myoban-no-Yu and the well-known Biyu-no-Yu – the hot spring waters featuring beautifying properties.

The resort will also feature carefully curated facilities and service, complete with a luxury spa offering revitalising treatments and locally-inspired remedies, and a heated infinity pool with breathtaking views throughout the season.

A rich variety of restaurant and bars grace the top floor of the resort, with “Elements – Atelier & Bar” setting a new standard for culinary excellence. The restaurant offers a range of creative, seasonal dishes using locally-sourced ingredients of the highest quality. Divided into a relaxed main dining room, an exclusive counter seating-only atelier and a stylish bar, each dish and drink served is designed to delight the palate.

InterContinental Beppu Resort & Spa also offers a unique, nature-inspired meetings and events space with The Gallery. Mesh ceilings with woven rattan and pillars made of traditional Japanese paper emit soft light while the carpeting features a motif inspired by Beppu’s famous hot spring steam wisps. Boutique meeting rooms invite a sense of relaxation and unconventional inspiration, with a discreet feeling of luxury, playfulness and attention.
