The world’s largest orienteering event Jukola Relay has been moved from previous June date to August because of coronavirus epidemic.

The Arctic Circle Jukola was initially planned to take place in year 2020. Change of schedule has been decided upon by the organising club Ounasvaaran Hiihtoseura (Ounasvaara Ski Cub), the Jukola leading team, and the Finnish Orienteering Federation.

The Arctic Circle Jukola organizers are taking a big responsibility in moving the event from June to August, but it is a perfect example of the Jukola spirit -We truly hope that the Jukola spirit of not giving up also brings the registered teams to Rovaniemi, says the chairman of the Jukola leading team Juhani Sihvonen.

Martti Anttila, competition director of the Arctic Circle Jukola, stresses that the organizers will proceed collaborating with the local health authority to ensure a health-safe Relay. Anttila continues – we will be following the development of coronavirus situation in the following months.

Participation of registered teams will be moved to August 2021, since the Deadlines for new registrations will be communicated later and will be updated, among other things, in the website version of event invitation.
