Mobile Travel Agents’ founder and co-managing directors, Karen and Roy Merricks have a reputation for surprising people.

That was certainly the case on the weekend when they very generously presented a special gift to singer Guy Sebastian when he joined them at the company’s ‘People Purpose Passion’ 20th anniversary conference taking place at the Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove.

The gift, a portrait of the musician painted by Karen Merrick’s nephew, artist Paul Trappett*, has been donated by the Merricks family to Guy Sebastian’s personal charitable cause, the Sebastian Foundation**.

The presentation followed a personal Q&A session with the singer and MTA Advisors hosted by the Nine Network’s Ally Langdon before Guy took to the stage to perform for the 500-plus conference delegates attending the MTA ‘People Purpose Passion’ gala dinner at Movie World on the Gold Coast.

**Established by Guy Sebastian and his wife Jules, the Sebastian Foundation is based on the understanding the positive impact a strong family unit can have and seeks to provide the warmth and benefit of family where it might be missing through underprivilege, serious illness or domestic violence.
