 Leading car rental company, Avis, has today announced applications for its renowned Travel Agent Scholarship programme are officially open for 2019. The programme celebrates the launch of its 23rd year with the inaugural official luncheon today in Sydney and Auckland, attended by a range of Australian and New Zealand travel industry leaders.

Established in 1996, the Avis Travel Agent Scholarship aims to encourage, recognise and reward outstanding customer service. The program has evolved into one of the most valuable and prestigious awards offered to Australian and New Zealand travel professionals.

Applications for the programme are open until Monday 23rd September, with finalists to be announced on Thursday 10th October. Finalists will have the opportunity to travel to Sydney to present to the judging panel ahead of the Awards Gala Dinner on Wednesday 13th November.

The sought-after scholarship offers the winner prizes valued at $35,000, including a range of experiences such as Qantas business class travel to an industry conference of the winner’s choosing within the Asia-Pacific region. The winner will also receive professional coaching and profiling for one year from Right Path as well as training opportunities and Cruise 365 Conference tickets courtesy of Cruise Lines International Association Australasia (CLIAA).

The Avis Travel Agent Scholarship application process is designed to be rigorous, transparent and impartial. Applicants are judged by travel industry leaders on extraordinary customer service, innovation in the workplace and how they keep sustainability front of mind when working with clients. They are required to answer a series of questions about how they meet the criteria in the most creative way, before submitting their responses in any format including PowerPoint or video.
