Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse is delighted to announce the appointment of its new General Manager, Blair Fowler, who officially joined the hotel on 2nd September 2019.

Blair is a highly-skilled hotel professional with more than 15 years of operational experience in the USA, UK, Australia and South East Asia. He is no stranger to Marriott International, having first joined the company in 2008 in Queensland, Australia.

In 2010, Blair moved to Thailand for the first time to become Rooms Division Manager in Hua Hin. This marked the start of a five-year period living and working in the “Land of Smiles,” during which Blair developed a deep appreciation for Thai culture. In 2011, he moved to the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel, which had recently opened its doors in the heart of the Thai capital, and enjoyed a successful spell, working his way up from Director of Rooms Operations to Director of Operations, and then to Acting General Manager.

Blair’s performance was rewarded in 2015, when he achieved his first full General Manager’s role at the Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon in Vietnam. During his four-year tenure at this prime downtown hotel, he was instrumental in improving all areas of the business and won the ‘2018 Asia Pacific General Manager of the Year’ award.

This makes Blair the perfect person to lead Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse, which opened its doors in April 2018 and has already won a series of important industry accolades, as well as holding a maximum TripAdvisor rating of five bubbles.

Blair returns to Thailand with his wife Kellie, son Bailey and daughter Lyla.

“I am honored to become General Manager of the Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse, a captivating hotel and cultural destination in one of the city’s most historic districts. To come back to Bangkok, where I previously lived and worked for almost five years, feels like a homecoming. I look forward to working with the entire team here to deliver extraordinary guest experiences that showcase the rich heritage of the Surawongse district, whilst helping to revitalize this vibrant local community,” Blair commented.

Located in the Surawongse heritage area, Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse features 303 rooms and residential suites, world-class leisure and dining facilities, impressive event space and an interior design concept that embraces local Thai art and culture.
