In August 2020, luxury travel expert, Latitude 33, will host an exclusive 12-night Behind The Iron Curtain tour in Russia for an intimate group of just 20 guests.

Get ready to immerse yourself in Russia’s cultural treasures, iconic architecture and fascinating history, not to mention a multitude of once-in-a-lifetime experiences. This fascinating itinerary, carefully crafted by Latitude 33, combines the aristocratic beauty of imperial St. Petersburg and the country’s bustling modern capital, Moscow.

Your journey begins in Dubai on 8 August 2020, with a 2-night stay at Raffles Dubai in the heart of the city, and a chance to indulge in the extraordinary hospitality for which the hotel is rightly famous, before flying to St. Petersburg on 10 August. Here, your home for the next 5 nights is the stunning Belmond Grand Hotel Europe, located on the Nevsky Prospekt and nestled amongst some of the city’s greatest architectural treasures – the perfect base from which to explore this stunning city dubbed ‘Venice of the North’.

The sheer grandeur and history of St. Petersburg will astound you. Enjoy private tours of some of the city’s most iconic historical and cultural attractions including the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, the Peter and Paul Fortress and the Peterhof Palace, Russia’s answer to Versailles. Other highlights include a visit to the Catherine Palace, one of Russia’s grandest royal estates in the nearby town of Pushkin, and of course, the world famous Hermitage State Museum with its jaw-dropping collection including masterpieces by Leonardo Da Vinci, Titian, Raphael and the French impressionists. Your experience is complete with a dinner at L’Europe, Russia’s oldest serving restaurant.

On 15 August, prepare for the next exciting phase of your adventure as you board the extraordinary Sapsan Bullet Train to Moscow’s Leningrad Train Station, completing the 700km journey in just 3.45 hours. Staying at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton located just moments from Red Square and the Kremlin, spend 5 nights discovering the Russian capital and delve deep into its fascinating history. Take time to explore the city’s many cultural and historical sites and attractions, including the famed St. Basil’s Cathedral, the Historical Museum, the Minin and Pozharsky Monument and Lenin’s Mausoleum.

Take a guided walking tour through the Kremlin’s grounds and cathedrals, marvel at the renowned Armoury Museum and its many masterpieces, from weaponry and armour to some of Faberge’s most famous eggs, or head to GUM Department Store for a retail fix. Stargazers, especially, will rejoice at a visit to the formerly top-secret Star City, training centre for Russian Cosmonauts since the 1960s, where Yuri Gagarin, Gherman Titov and Valentina Tereshkova all prepared for their historic flights into space.

Commencing on Saturday 8 August 2020, Latitude 33’s exclusive Behind The Iron Curtain journey is limited to just 20 guests, with prices starting from $15,086 per person, including all accommodation, return international economy class airfares from Australia, return airport transfers in Australia, one way First Class train fare from St. Petersburg to Moscow, a range of bonus excursions at key stops, and all transfers and baggage handling throughout the tour.
