Spotted at W Bali – Seminyak, Australian singer-songwriter Ruel Vincent van Dijk, working on his debut album!
For two weeks in mid-February 2020, Ruel wrote songs and recorded tracks in the hotels very own Sound Suite, W Hotels’ first ever private music recording studio and creative space. He worked on his debut album to be released later this year with his team of guest songwriters.
During his time at W Bali, Ruel recorded an acoustic cover of ‘She’ by Harry Styles in the E-WOW Suite. Ruel played his guitar and showed his neo-soul style of voice in the video that can be seen on YouTube (view the video here).
Ruel, who started singing at a very young age, was discovered by M-Phazes, a producer who’d previously worked with Eminem and released his debut single “Golden Years” in April 2017. At the age of 16, he became the youngest male artist to perform in a sold-out hometown show at the Sydney Opera House.
Having won the Breakthrough Artist award for his single “Dazed & Confused” at the 2018 Aria Awards and being praised by Elton John himself is not enough to make him stop. As Elton John said, “it’s astonishing someone so young can write something so good. I give up.” This is A Ruel thing, Ruel rules!
