Popular Chinese eatery, Beijing Impression, is laying claim to a second Sydney outpost with the launch of a substantial new site at 1909 Dining Precinct Market City.

True to Northern Chinese tradition, the menu has been designed to offer a balance of both sweet and savoury flavours. Diners can indulge their senses with a deluxe seasonal offering of dishes that feature a contemporary take on some of the classics.

Guests are encouraged to tantalise their tastebuds with the stand-out Peking duck, which has been deemed one of “Sydney’s best”. Requiring two days of preparation, it is served three ways.

First up is crispy skin duck, roasted in a closed oven and lightly doused with sugar crystals. Next, diners can feast on tender duck pancakes followed by a delicious broth of duck meat paired with green vegetables and glass noodles, served in a simmering broth for the ultimate trilogy.

Adventurous eaters can tuck into the traditional fish head juice pancakes – exclusive to the new restaurant – or try the braised boneless pork feet with a hint of vinegar, which allegedly hails from the Forbidden City. Also on the menu is Honeycomb Briquette – a dish so unique it was patented in China. Comprised of fried black rice soaked in fruit and brandy, it is ignited at the table for theatrical impact.

Founded in the Chinese capital, in 2014, by local Tong Han, Beijing Impression embodies Han’s desire to use food to showcase a modern twist on traditional Beijing culture. Since its inception, the restaurant concept has become a global phenomenon with 21 venues spanning China, Japan and Sydney with further locations expected in the near future.

Beijing Impression Australian Director, Oscar Jin, is extending Han’s vision to introduce the world to Beijing through a ‘taste-able’ museum.

“Following the success of our first Australian venue in Ashfield, we are excited to expand our footprint to Haymarket and knew that we needed to deliver an equally impressive second concept. From dining under pomegranate and maple trees to the exclusive fish head juice pancake on the menu, restaurant-goers will experience the authentic Beijing.”

Market City Centre Manager, David Yam, says Beijing Impression is a welcome addition to the flourishing 1909 Dining Precinct.

“1909 Dining Precinct was named to pay homage to the year the original red-brick façade of Market City was originally erected, so we’re delighted to welcome Beijing Impression’s latest venture which is steeped in tradition. It is already immensely popular with Sydney diners thanks to the high-quality ingredients, excellent service and meticulous execution.”

With a frontage spanning 38 metres, the expansive space seats 160 guests, but also affords the luxury of privacy with six exclusive rooms that accommodate up to 12 people.

Consistent with the global theme that depicts the four seasons, diners will be transported to Beijing from the moment they walk through the door. The inviting interiors feature warm wooden accents, rustic tones and rich foliage, evoking the character and charm of the city in its most beautiful element – autumn.

Beijing Impression is the newest eatery to join the stunning transformation of Market City’s 1909 Dining Precinct. The precinct has welcomed six restaurants to date, with two yet-to-be announced concepts to be introduced in the coming months.

Ultra-convenient, Market City is offering diners free undercover parking from 6pm with more than 600 bays available. It is also easily accessible by public transport including bus, light rail and train with Central and Town Hall station in close proximity. Located on level three, 1909 Dining Precinct is open seven days a week until late.
