BlackBook: Travel. Your Way

November 14, 2019 Apps No Comments Email Email

BlackBook, an all-new integrated travel ecosystem will be available worldwide by December 2019. Offering the largest hotel inventory of over 1.82 million hotel listings, trip planning and management features and many soon to be released travel-related services, BlackBook looks set to become the go-to app for travellers. The platform offers a distinctive rewards program which enables users to convert their BlackBook points earned across multiple hotels or chains straight into cash, following through on their commitment to build and unify services surrounding users’ travel needs through travel-centric technology and innovation.

Largest hotel inventory BlackBook has the largest inventory of over 1.82 million unique hotels – and through its multisourced travel engine, travellers are able to book hotel stays that are offered at highly competitive rates via the platform’s price benchmarking service that sifts through 9.5 million search points daily; ideal for deal-hunters seeking the best prices. What’s more, the system is also able to sieve through price disparities around hotel details – a longstanding issue faced within the travel industry according to Fornova and EyeforTravel’s whitepaper1. Additionally, BlackBook users will not need to search for separate 3rd party reviews of shortlisted hotels as the engine integrates reviews from multiple sources, making it easier for users to research and make their final selection.

“It was important for us to be able to offer clarity as we aggregate information from various travel suppliers and engines with varying categorical differences — such as calling rooms differing names — and to do that in our deduplication efforts without losing data integrity” said Ravinder Namboori, CTO of BlackBook. “BlackBook Uno, the backbone of our app, lets us do this, ensuring that it doesn’t matter who we procure from, large global distributors or small territorial suppliers, or how well categorised their inventory is.”

Setting the bar right with rewards Unique to the BlackBook platform is a cross-chain rewards program that is the first of its kind in the industry. BlackBook users will not need to jump through hoops for rewards. Points earned through their very first booking can be easily used to either offset their next stay, pay for a drink at the hotel lounge or be redeemed as cash through users’ respective credit cards. This translates to virtually infinite spending options for users, as well as provides the actual realisation of travel rewards and savings. “Having worked in the hospitality industry for several decades, I’ve noticed a gap in terms of rewards and travellers either getting locked into other proprietary programs or be offered rewards that are mostly unreachable by a large majority of the audience. It can be very inflexible,” said Iqbal Jumabhoy, CEO and founder of BlackBook, “From what we know of the industry, 17% of top tier airline travellers and 24% of hotel members has ties to more than one loyalty program2. This means that points are trapped in various loyalty programs at any one time, which can be a bane for travellers, especially when those programs limit travellers to using points within a single hotel group. BlackBook was developed to set the bar right for rewards and to provide a one-stop suite experience like no other.”

Planning great escapades Users of BlackBook can discover new cities and build itineraries with their in-app travel companion, myBlackBook. With a database of over 32 million Points of Interest (POI), a whole new city or getaway awaits. Travellers can easily plan or manage the day’s routes by adding or removing POIs with the app’s map access. The in-app companion also enables users to share itineraries, calculate conversions between major currencies, set calendar reminders and check their booking details – all within the app.

Agile and infinitely scalable In the coming months, the ecosystem will be continuously rolling out new features to keep users engaged, with more travel-related modules to be added. There’s no better time to go black for great travel experiences. “We are continuously updating and expanding the platform with new features to excite travellers, and most importantly address common pain points faced by them. Moving forward, BlackBook users will be able to book flights and local ride hailing services globally with ease. We hope to help users spend less time and money planning, and more time enjoying their travels. We want users to experience travel the BlackBook way.” said Mr. Jumabhoy. Dream. Plan. Book. Manage.
