Blues on Broadbeach Rocks Qld Music Awards and Announces Full Program with App

At the Queensland Music Awards last night, the much-loved Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival, now in its 18th year, was the runner-up for the ‘Festival of the Year’ award in the People’s Choice category, with Big Pineapple Music Festival taking out the top spot.

Blues on Broadbeach is honoured to be recognised by the public as one of the top two festivals in Queensland and is looking forward to welcoming fans to their event which runs May 16-19 and features a jam packed line-up of top international and local acts.

“After so many years of building this fantastic festival it is great to see our fans have voted to ensure it is in the finals for the People’s Choice Awards,” said Blues on Broadbeach Festival Director Mark Duckworth. “After all, it’s the music fans who drive the momentum of our event and have contributed to the 171,000 fans that grooved along in 2018!”

One of Australia’s largest free music festivals, Blues on Broadbeach is held each May across 20 indoor and outdoor stages in stunning Broadbeach locations. It is a complete destination experience where you can relax in sophisticated restaurants and bars while listening to diverse tunes from top Blues artists from around the world.

The event is staged by Broadbeach Alliance, which promotes the Gold Coast’s Broadbeach precinct and works closely with local traders to provide economic benefit.

This year’s festival held on May 16-19 will see local Blues royalty like Kevin Borich Express, Harts, and The Bamboos joined by more international artists than ever before including Canned Heat, Bahamas, Eric Bibb, and Charley Crockett.  Plus an exclusive ticketed show at The Star Gold Coast featuringGipsy Kings by Andre Reyes.

This is a festival you won’t forget in a hurry with a program that is an adventure path for fans of Blues and Roots music with authentic and energetic tunes all the way from start to finish.

Long-term fans will know that the festival always aims to kick off with a bang and this year is no exception with crowd favourite The Lachy Doley Groupstriking the first note for 2019.

Top international artists including Eric Bibb, Chris Cain, Charlie Crockett and Cedric Burnside will play across two or more days of the festival so that fans will have ample opportunity to see these headline acts live.

Additionally, Kurrawa Surf Club has been added to the long list of venues supporting live music at the festival, which will help Blues on Broadbeach present over 220 hours of music in total.

International sensation Canned Heat will close the event 15 years on from their first appearance at the festival back in 2004, one which is still talked about in the event’s musical history!
