Travellers on an eight-day Birdsville outback loop tour will receive a free night’s accommodation at the start of their Aussie adventure, thanks to a new offer released by outback tourism company, Tri State Safaris.
The highest sand dune in the Simpson Desert, Burke and Wills’ famous ‘Dig Tree’ and the most remote town in NSW are among the highlights of the tour. The bonus night is available at the start of the tour at the Argent Hotel in the heart of Broken Hill.
The tour also has a low single supplement, perfect for independent travellers.
Aiming to take people beyond Broken Hill to the real outback, the tour will see guests travel in air-conditioned 4WD vehicles through red sand dune country. After journeying through Sturt National Park, guests will visit Cameron Corner – where NSW, Queensland and South Australia meet, and the Dingo Fence – built in the 1880s to keep dingos out of south-east Australia, and still one of the longest structures in the world today. From there, the journey continues to Innamincka on the majestic Cooper Creek where explorers Burke and Wills made camp at the Dig Tree almost 160 years ago.
The route continues along the red gibber plains, where travellers will visit a historic woolshed and get a sense of what life was like for previous generations, before arriving in iconic Birdsville. From there, travellers can visit the edge of the Simpson Desert and climb to the top of ‘Big Red’ – its highest sand dune, which stands at over 30 metres tall. The journey then will take travellers further east onto Thargominda, where they can learn about Australia’s first hydro-electricity system, before returning to Broken Hill via Tibooburra, the most remote town in New South Wales – where guests can visit the museum and quirky Family Hotel.
Along the way, there will be opportunities to spot native birds and wildlife and enjoy the spectacular scenery of the outback.
Including seven nights’ accommodation, transfers, all meals and entries and the services of an experienced and accredited tour driver-guide, the adventure costs from A$4150 per person, twin-share. All new bookings will also receive the bonus night in Broken Hill before the tour begins. The tour also has a low solo supplement, with single share bookings available from $4530 per person.
