Fincantieri and Princess Cruises held a unique launch ceremony for the bow section of the line’s fourth Royal-class ship, to be named Sky Princess in Castellammare di Stabia (Naples) on February 1, 2018.

The bow section, launched off a traditional inclined slipway, is approximately 130 metres long, 43 metres wide, 25 metres high and weighs about 7,600 tons.  The bow section will be transported by sea to Monfalcone, Italy where it will be assembled with the rest of the ship being constructed by Fincantieri. Sky Princess is scheduled to debut in October 2019 on a series of Mediterranean voyages.

The 143,700 ton, 3,660-passenger vessel will feature an evolution of the successful design platform used for previous Royal-class ships – Royal Princess, Regal Princess and Majestic Princess.  Sky Princess will include signature elements that have become synonymous with the brand’s best-in-class guest experience, and bring together the best features found on her Royal-class sister ships.

“The anticipation for Sky Princess’ debut in October next year is mounting and news of the launch of her bow section is set to fuel even more excitement.” Senior Vice President Princess Cruises Asia Pacific, Stuart Allison.

“The team at Fincantieri are investing more than two million human-hours into perfecting our newest ship and Australian and New Zealand guests can be among the first enjoy the all her royal-class features by taking advantage of our fly cruise offerings.”

The inaugural Mediterranean deployment of Sky Princess is on sale now and features 10 cruise departures on eight unique itineraries, including a new seven-day Mediterranean roundtrip Rome voyage. Combinable with a seven-day Mediterranean Barcelona to Rome for a 14-day Western Mediterranean Medley voyage, the itinerary will call in to some of the most iconic ports in the Mediterranean Sea.
