Brady Hotels Jones Lane, opening August 1, is excited about ‘doing things differently’ to provide a more personalised guest experience and helping visitors discover the best of Melbourne’s theatre, shopping and laneway culture that’s literally on its doorstep.
Brady Hotels Jones Lane – the group’s second Melbourne hotel – is tucked down Little Lonsdale Street on the corner of Jones Lane (between Exhibition and Russell Street), in the heart of the city’s Theatre District.
Ideal for business and leisure travellers, the 4.5 star boutique hotel spans 21 storeys and encompasses 153 rooms (125 king, 10 twin, 14 business and four studio apartments). Ninety-six of the rooms have balconies.
All rooms contain king beds and openable windows – a rarity for a city hotel. The styling takes on a sophisticated dark palette, complimented by chic brass pendant lighting and leather lounges adding a cheerful pop of bright orange.
There’s a noticeable focus on luxe design and fixtures throughout the hotel rooms, including:
- floor to ceiling windows
- Hypnos ‘Dreamer’ pillowtop mattresses and 200 thread count bed linen
- black and marble bathrooms featuring water-efficient and powerful showerheads
- high-end bespoke furniture
- 40-inch smart televisions and Foxtel access
- Smeg induction cooktops and rangehoods in the Studio Apartments
- Australian Urban Skin Care bathroom amenities designed to combat urban environmental conditions and protect against UV radiation
The hotel’s street-facing Jones Lane Café and Bar will be serving Insta-worthy breakfasts, delicious lunches to eat in or on-the-go as well as Code Black coffee for the all-important caffeine fix.
Additional hotel services and amenities include a 24-hour reception, round-the-clock room service, two garden terraces, cardio gym, self-serve laundry and bike storage room.
Within the hotel’s immediate neighbourhood is Her Majesty’s Theatre, The Comedy Theatre, Old Melbourne Gaol, Royal Exhibition Building and Melbourne Museum.
Buzzing Chinatown (Little Bourke Street) and Lonsdale Street’s Greek precinct, as well as shopping meccas Melbourne Central and QV Melbourne are just a few short blocks away.
Group General Manager for Brady Hotels Robert Moore said many aspects of the new hotel are a break with industry tradition, reflecting what guests have expressed they want – and don’t want.
“Unsurprisingly, the number one item on guests’ wish lists is a great bed and peaceful night’s sleep,” he said.
“The ‘Dreamer’ pillowtop mattresses we’ve chosen for Jones Lane are crafted by Hypnos – the official bed supplier to all the royal residences in the UK including Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.
“We have got rid of the conventional check-in desk – instead welcoming guests into an open plan lobby that has a more friendly and inviting feel.
“Our front-of-house staff won’t have uniforms, allowing them to convey their individual personalities while maintaining the highest professional standards and customer service.
“Another Jones Lane point of difference is not having mini bars in the rooms, a decision based on our guests’ preference to BYO rather than pay $6 for a dusty packet of chips.
“We’re short walking distance to several convenience stores, supermarkets and bottle shops, so it makes sense to do away with the mini bar and provide more fridge space and cooking equipment.

Brady Hotels Jones Lane was designed and developed by award-winning architectural and interior design companies SJB, Peddle Thorp Group and Brady Construction at a cost of $32 million.
Brady Hotels opened its first Melbourne hotel, the 4.5 star Brady Hotels Central Melbourne, at 30 Little La Trobe Street in 2014.
