The Brisbane Cycling Festival will return in 2021 (24 March – 12 April), with an expanded festival program making it Australia’s biggest cycling event.
The Brisbane Showgrounds will host an all-new Festival Village showcasing an exciting array of multi-discipline cycling events, an active lifestyle expo and entertainment for all ages.
Following a tumultuous 2020 which saw Brisbane Cycling Festival cancelled due to COVID-19, Festival management is focused on establishing the festival as the single largest multi-disciplinary cycling festival in Australia.
The 2021 Brisbane Cycling Festival will feature returning major events as well as new activities which will entice people to watch, play, and stay in Brisbane.
Cycling Australia Track National Championships and Tour de Brisbane partnered with Splatt Lawyers will again headline the three-week program with Festival management committed to delivering new events and as well as a suite of new activities designed to capitalise on the surge in cycling participation and popularity emerging from COVID-19.
The Festival Village at the Brisbane Showgrounds will be a unified home for the headlining events, as well as the Active Lifestyle Expo, Street Races, Gravel Criteriums, Markets and live family entertainment.
The Brisbane Cycling Festival is delivered by Cycling Queensland with support from the Queensland Government through Tourism & Events Queensland and Brisbane City Council through Brisbane Economic Development Agency.
Cycling Queensland CEO Sean Muir said he was looking forward to seeing the Brisbane Cycling Festival on show at the Brisbane Showgrounds in 2021.

Boasting diverse spaces, a flexible outdoor footprint, and connectivity to the King Street precinct and to Brisbane City, making it an excellent platform to deliver immersive cycling experiences for all from elite competitive through to mass participation events” said Muir.
“Festival attendees will see a flurry of new activities and entertainment included in the 2021 line up, including cultural lifestyle activities like food, wine, craft beers and family entertainment which is all possible within the new Brisbane Cycling Festival Hub” Muir continued.
The Brisbane Cycling Festival Active Lifestyle Expo will be the hero of the Festival Village, with the latest and greatest cycling technology, products and trends as well as exhibitors showcasing their wares in the health & wellbeing and broader active lifestyle categories.

Brisbane Cycling Festival’s Ambassador James Tobin is excited to take the Brisbane Cycling Festival to a new level in 2021.

We know these Showgrounds are celebrated and loved by Queenslanders, as well as National and International visitors for many other major events, and the Brisbane Cycling Festival in 2021 will be no different” Said Tobin.
The RNA Showgrounds Chief Executive Brendan Christou welcomes the Brisbane Cycling Festival to the Brisbane Showgrounds in 2021.

The Brisbane Cycling Festival’s Tour de Brisbane partnered with Splatt Lawyers will benefit greatly from the new location of the Festival Village, maximising their potential with a far more flexible event footprint.
Tour de Brisbane partnered with Splatt Lawyers Race Director Michael Crawley expressed his excitement for returning to the Brisbane Cycling Festival in 2021.
“We are proud to have the Tour de Brisbane partnered with Splatt Lawyers return to Brisbane City in 2021, inviting locals to ride or race on one of the best courses in the world” said Crawley.
“This year the event will again run in support of The Common Good, an initiative of the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation” said Crawley
Cycling Australia’s General Manager Kipp Kaufmann expresses Cycling Australia’s pleasure to be involved in the Brisbane Cycling Festival in 2021.
“The Brisbane Cycling Festival has quickly become a cornerstone of the Australian cycling calendar. The Cycling Australia Track National Championships continue to enjoy being a key part of the Festival. We look forward to being part of a unique festival that has something for every type of cyclist and fan” said Kaufmann.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said it’s been a challenging time for all sport and the Brisbane Cycling Festival would help bring the excitement and energy of live sporting events back to the city.
“The Brisbane Cycling Festival will be a major boost for our city’s economic recovery by supporting local tourism, accommodation, hospitality and service sector businesses,” Cr Schrinner said.
“Brisbane’s world class infrastructure and enviable climate has always been an ideal destination to host this cycling spectacular and it will be great to see spectators and athletes help bring our city back to life through this festival.”
Tourism Minister Kate Jones said events like the Brisbane Cycling Festival would play an important role in the state’s economic recovery.
“Major events like this pump thousands of dollars back into the local businesses, support local jobs and help to rebuild our economy,” Ms Jones said.
“Because Queenslanders have done such a great job fighting COVID-19, we can now welcome tourists back to our state.
“This event will deliver a great boost for local businesses at a time when everyone is doing it tough.
“Brisbane and surrounds are one of the most beautiful places in the world to visit and the 2021 Brisbane Cycling Festival gives visitors another reason to book a trip.
“Only the Palaszczuk Government has a plan to rebuild our economy and create local jobs. Events like this that support local businesses and local jobs are crucial to that strategy.”
