Popular TV couple Dan and Dani, who appeared on The Block two years running, are hoping to leave a legacy in the building sector and associated trades by upskilling the industry forcing out cowboy operators.

The founders of Red Door Project are teaming up with Tradiematepro to help builders and a wide range of trades introduce improved processes and transparency to enable better communication with both staff and customers as well as increasing productivity.

“We know firsthand how hard it is to start a business and we made mistakes, one cost us $50k, so we quickly learnt structure and processes are vital,” says Dani.

“Too many tradies who run their own business are still providing written quotes and invoices, don’t know their financials and cash-flow, or even how much time they are spending on the job,” she said.

“Those days are gone. If tradies want to thrive in this industry, they want to help educate homeowners that the cheapest quote isn’t always the best – as many are still vulnerable to cowboy tradies whose costs blow out simply because they underquoted the job to get the job.

“Builders need to delegate to elevate, so structure and processes will enable them to do just that but without them, the business will not grow.

“Having systems in place will also help tradies to navigate unexpected hurdles – like the coronavirus, recent fires and floods, which have led to a 3-6 month delay in supply of joinery products, for example, and driving up the costs of some hardwood prices.”

“Seeking new perspectives helps trade based businesses be aware of new markets, like there is at the moment with passive construction.”

Dan and Dani will be available for coaching at Tradiematepro to help not only new trade based businesses, but also those well established companies ready to engage a new perspective.

Tradiematepro is designed to help improve:

  • Financials, Cash flow and profitability
  • Time and team management
  • Marketing and Lead Generation
  • Sales strategy
  • Best apps and software for your business

Dan says they’re also encouraging business owners to look at workplace culture, creating incentive programs and really focusing on client needs and communication.

Tradiematepro launched in 2018 and has since helped to educate hundreds of tradies to collectively increase their profits, attract new clients and operate professional businesses with successful futures.

Tradiematepro’s Matt Jones says, “There’s little point in trying to grow and scale a business that has shaky foundations. Everything duplicates for better or worse. Tradiematepro is about laying the foundations that can be built on.”

Anyone interested in finding out more can attend the Essential Tradie Live event in Melbourne on March 27, founded by Tradiematepro, and Dani will be a key speaker.
