The ANZ Cairns Amateurs Ball this year celebrates diamond brilliance marking 60 years with a black-tie event under the stars on Cairns waterfront featuring headline act, The Best of the Bee Gees.
Taking place on Friday, 7 September, the gala event will, as per long standing tradition, be attended by Governor Paul de Jersey signalling the start of a fabulous party.
This year organisers have upped the entertainment value with a non-stop program headlined by Australia’s hugely popular and fun, tribute band, The Best of the Bee Gees and the drama and theatrics local acrobatic duo Dream State Circus In between DJ, MJ from Studio 54 will keep the dance floor pumping but not before everyone has had the chance to sit down and enjoy a sumptuous feast of pre-dinner canapés followed by fresh seafood, Mediterranean and Asian-inspired gourmet delights, decadent desserts, and premium beverages from the award winning crew at Ochre Catering.
In 2018, the Ball will be staged for the second year running, within a glamorous marquee situated on the Eastern Event Lawn of Cairns’ pristine Esplanade, with a stunning fireworks display lighting up the calm waters of Trinity Inlet to conclude this very memorable evening.
With the prestigious event just weeks away, the city’s glitterati are putting final touches on red-carpet ensembles carefully selected to reflect the Ball’s theme, ‘Diamond Jubilee’, in keeping with the Ball’s strictly black-tie dress code.
The highly anticipated annual soiree will see Cairns’ social set rub shoulders with the who’s who of racing royalty from the Far North and beyond, as they dance the night away to a seamless assortment of colourful live music.
Cairns Amateurs CEO Graham Thornton said hosting the Ball at the exciting waterfront venue firmly positions the city at the epicentre of social activity, while the event’s diamond studded theming provides that little bit of extra sparkle.
“The Amateurs Ball has always been a highlight of the region’s annual social calendar, but this year our guests can expect an extravaganza of bling like never before, as we pay tribute to our event in its 60th year,” Mr Thornton said.
Another special element of this year’s Ball is its platform partnership with local charity COUCH and a special fundraising auction that will be held throughout the evening, no doubt adding to the adrenalin fuelled excitement.
“This year we are proudly supporting COUCH in the construction of its Health Wellness Centre with proceeds directly benefiting this worthy cause founded by one of our most passionate former members, Charles Woodward and family,” he said.
Exclusive packages for the ANZ Cairns Amateurs Ball are now available, and include a deluxe seafood dinner prepared by award-winning chefs of the region, with free-flowing premium beverages.
The event will be held on Cairns Esplanade Eastern Event Lawn from 6.30pm to midnight on Friday 7 September.
